    What is a purist?

Because he's using gimmicks, that makes him a below average magician? Oh boy, there is so much wrong with that statement. About 80% of a magic perfomance is just that... performing. Therefore, if he's getting better reactions than you, even using gimmicks, it means he's a better performer...

And that would be why he said "almost a year now."

    Royal Flush

This was used on the show "T.H.E.M." in a poker demonstration. It was pretty cool, but from what I've heard it's not too practical.

    Smooth Operations or Classic Clip?

You could still use a phone book. Just put a piece of wood or something of that nature over the deck first, and add some weight (the phone book).

Do NOT get Mystic Smoke from Fingertips...

And if you use it inside? But yeah, I think it would be highly ethical and a good idea to release harmful chemicals into the air (no matter the amount) for your spectators to breathe. ;) I'm quite sure that if they found out it was dangerous, they could easily sue you and win. Well, they could...

What do you think would be cool?

Somebody definitely woke up on the wrong side of the card box. I think anybody would be proud to own this site, Dummy... not just Criss Angel.

A young man once walked up to David Devant and said, "David, I know 300 card tricks... how many do you know?" To which David replied, "I know about 8." Point being it's not how many you know, but how you perform what you do know.

    Centurions or Guardians?

Just for future reference, it's spelled "Centurions". ;)

    Routine

This is how I would do it: 1) Here Then There 2) Waving the Aces 3) Sloppy Shuffle Triumph 4) Biddle Trick 5) ACR It has a nice build to it, slowly getting better and better. But mess around with a few different options and see what you can come up with.

Do NOT get Mystic Smoke from Fingertips...

I wouldn't buy the Ultrasmoke 2000. It uses chemicals that can be very harmful to your body.

    Card forces

Try "40 Ways to Force a Card" with Gerry Griffin. Yes, it's Magic Makers, but it's actually not bad at all. The Classic Force is taught, with, you guessed it... 39 other forces. Check out my review for it if you want to know more.

    What is a purist?

No it's not. The gimmick is just a prop. Just like your cards, your coins. If you want to play along those lines, purists, then we can do that. If you use any props at all... paper, pens, cards, coins, napkins... anything, I could easily argue that the reactions were the prop's reactions...
