He never used a double backer. Glenn West hit the nail on the head... Vernon didn't use Marlo's Tilt either, he just openly stuck the card second from the top and had it appear back on the very top each time. David Ben talks about this in his Vernon Biography.

I mean, it doesn't make much sense in that it isn't clear what has happened... magic should be motivated. Floating a rubber band, understandable... you're attempting levitation. This... it isn't clear what you're trying to do.

In all honesty, it depends on who you are and what you like. Packaging-wise, this is worth it... effect-wise, it all depends on YOU. I personally... well, you'll see when I review the next discs. Stay tuned!
