    Performance today went pretty bad...

If you want to prove something, that by definition means you think you have something to prove. Why? Why do you think you need to accept these pointless challenges?

    Performance today went pretty bad...

There's your problem right there. Well, one of them. Your first mistake was trying to do walk-around during the Christmas rush. People have enough on their minds already without us interrupting them. Anyway, why do you think you have something to prove?

    Magic dvds - too cheap?

How many people do you think actually do that. Ballpark it for me. We call those people poseurs. They quit after about a month as soon as it starts getting hard and they aren't getting the psychological validation from it they were seeking in the first place. I've contacted people like...

    Magic dvds - too cheap?

No. The secret is the most worthless part. They can, but not everyone does. And if you increase the price, people will just pirate it more. You're thinking like the RIAA. What do I think? Stop wasting time complaining about exposure and rise above it.

    Is there Street Magic?

Oh god, the Jamy Swiss article again. I see a bad moon rising. Here's a mentalist stunt: I predict that of the people who agree with the article, approximately 85% will parrot Mr. Swiss's exact words and strawman arguments and relentlessly attack Ellusionist and everyone involved with it...

I think it goes a little beyond differing opinions at this point. To put it another way, I make it a point not to trust people who feel the need to say, "You'll never convince me."

    The Devils picture book

How does that address my point in any way, shape, or form? Yes, because Tarbell extensively covered things like UV light magic, loops usage, and temporary tattoos in magic. People, do your homework. Because it's embarassing for someone else to have to do it for you.

    The Devils picture book

Neither is the Tarbell course, but everybody has this bizarre talking point around it where they say it's all you'll ever need even though they clearly buy a lot more beyond those books. For me, the value of The Devil's Picturebook comes more in just getting one more insight into the mind of...

    The Devils picture book

This is more than likely coming from a person who either doesn't own The Devil's Picturebook, or has completely missed the fact that it's not so much about methods as about presentation and the demonstration of how method and presentation should mesh. That's the key thinking that...

In other words, you just want to be right. Obviously, there are a lot of other magicians out there who can use this effect just fine. In my experience, the method is seldom more of a problem than the magician, but naturally nobody wants to hear that.

Justin Miller clearly can pull it off. If it's not your style, it's not your style. Don't make bad excuses for yourself saying that the method sucks.

This is precisely why I never perform in front of magicians and why the only other performer I'd ever show a performance video to is a mentor.

    A few problems with theory11

Classy. Did you type that with your pinky extended, too? Again, classy. That doesn't really answer the question. I'm running out of sarcastic jokes about your unique approach to tact and arguments. Translation: We're all too thin-skinned and immature to deal with conflicting...

Whose products are more expensive - Ellusionist or Theory11?

You have got to be kidding me. Durr-hey! Oh please. The Scorpion set, the Guerilla Guide to Loops, Ninja 1 and 2, the Stained Skin series, Silver Dream... That's because the majority are idiots. I know some people are going to hate me for this, but it's my honest belief that the people...

    The History Of Magic

The bullet catch the first magic trick? Considering sleight of hand has been around long before firearms, that's pretty impressive. Seriously though, a thread on the history of magic... Where do you start?

Experience. However, comparing accents to actual grammar and spelling in prose is apples and oranges. I've met people online who spoke English well enough that it wasn't until later that I learned they were from Spain, Russia, even Japan. I never said they were subhumans, just idiots.

Why should I have to? If someone's not going to make the effort to be understood, I shouldn't have to make the effort to understand it. Most people who speak English as a second or third language actually speak it better than most brain-dead AIM addicts for whom it's their native language.

    Strong Mentalism effects?

No it isn't. Knowing what I know now, I wish I could have started with Anneman or Cassidy before moving on to 13 Steps. 13 Steps is an extremely dry read that doesn't delve into showmanship nearly as much as I would have liked. It's a great volume with a wealth of methods, effects, and...
