I agree... smoothness is more important than speed.. I've been told that my (false) count was too quick to follow which made it suspicious for the spectator.

I use a clear spray enamel.. takes a few hours, but the spray cost about the same as a regular deck.

When I do the 2CM, I gesture with my hands the whole time. People get used to me moving my hands, usually never within a foot of each other. As I talk to them and get eye contact, my hands are usually at the sides of my body in an 'open' position, then I bring them together in a 'swooping'...

I work at a bar, and towards closing time (granted, it's not the most sober audience), I'll sometimes do tricks. I limit it to 2 or 3 card tricks and one "other" trick.. like a bar magic trick, a toothpick puzzle, a Gecko vanish, or a "stupid human trick" (can elaborate, but not this thread)...

Does anyone use this book? It's one of the few carried at the local Barnes & Nobel. Would you suggest it? I'm focusing on card magic, but I am open to learn anything.

If you can resurrect the rest of the information, please post it in the thread.. It sounds like good advice, and something that I (and plenty of others, I am sure) would benefit from. If it's a lot of info, it sounds like a 'sticky' to me.. something to refer beginners like myself to now and...
