David Stone's Real Secrets of Magic

Perhaps more precisely, every once in a while, an effect needs something extra to be worn, but they're available and not too uncommon for magicians.

    Sandwich Battle - Vote Now

Eddie, Thanks for your comments. In fact, no patter was a necessity in this case since I shot it at around 2AM my time and I had to make it silent; nonetheless, your point is well taken on emphasising and practicing presentation. Peace

    Centurions

lol! They do not... Open a normal pack of Bikes... All slippery and easily bent... Bikes are good cost-wise, but feel and quality wise, no comparison...

    Custom Cards Are Bad?

lol Brian, I agree with Thrall, why do you insist on being an egomaniac when it comes to magic and flourishes? Why perform if all you do is show off and aim to humiliate them when it does work? I hate to say this, but if people suspect your cards... Practice more. Your YouTube videos obviously...

    Ambitious Ace Sequence

C=B, I think this is what you're describing, there is a short effect called Ambitious Aces published in Harry Lorayne's Close Up Card Magic (1962). Peace

    Smoke & Mirrors : A Cordial Invitation :: Friday, Aug. 1

I totally agree with you man... The thing about these though is that from what we've seen, the deck perfectly sums up how I like to dress while performing magic and also come across - it's elegant. More than any other deck I've seen, this one has a really artistic beauty, the joker is a suave...

    Custom Cards Are Bad?

And for me, every deck is a "more than suspicious" deck because they've never seen anything common, so nothing is a given, no outs from it. As for the proper way, it'd depend on your style, whatever makes it feel more like you and more natural.

    Card Clips

Porpers are more card presses, which'll keep/make your cards straight; card clips simply protect straight cards from warping due to heat, especially in your pocket, that sort of basic protective function. The former makes it straight, the latter keeps it from bending.

    Card Clips

The card clips do not have the same purpose as Porpers - they were intended to keep a deck cool and straight in your pocket. They have a purpose, but not the same as Porpers.

Unnecessary Patter = Useless & Irrelevant?

Having just read through the entire thread, I feel like you've said a whole lot of stuff without saying much at all. How ironic given the topic of the thread. The only thing I notice is that when you can't answer criticism, you ignore it, and when you address it, you barely justify it with...

    Custom Cards Are Bad?

Hey guys, I just wanted to put two things out there. I live in Australia, which is where these two issues originate from: 1. In Australia, no-one knows what you're talking about if you talk about "Bikes". There is no one dominant brand of cards where I am, "regular" Bikes are as foreign as...

    Does the Creator Matter?

Hey guys, I don't post here often but I do hang around, here's a thought... Do flourishes created by a generally well-known and well-regarded flourisher, say Chris Hestnes or Allan Hagen, automatically get rated well? In practical terms, does it affect perceptions, and make it more likely for...

    Mystique - Big Hands?

Try this for a Double Charlier... It's slightly slower than it could be, but it still works. Start off normal Charlier, but instead of pushing the bottom packet over the top and closing it, push the bottom packet up but not over; use your thumb to push the bottom packet against the side of the...

    Recuperating When Tricks Go Wrong

Michael, Smoke is an effect taught on Disc 1 of Derren Brown's The Devil's Picturebook available from his website. It is not a psychological force (those are on Disc 2). Watch the video of Smoke if you want to see the effect. It does require a little bit of set-up and a gimmick. Sadly, I...
