    Magic in Seattle

A lot of good local magicians still in Seattle. Yes, the Pikes Place market magic store is still a good place to head to. Sometimes a local magician will be in there to say hello to the managers. Haha, I remember when Tony Chang used to work there =). The Magic Back Room at Tom Frank's old...

Developing Your Sets - Essay #6 from JDG

Great posts Jamie! All of these posts would be top-notch Blog material. I can see a new blog, "Magicians making new magicians" or something like that. Haha. Right now, I have three 3 sets. 2 of them are listed below: Set 1: Sponge Balls ACR -> Wallet Pressure or Smoke (depending on group)...

t11.bulletin - Cannibal Cards by Michael Hankins

Wow, nice job on this one JB =). Cannibal Cards is an amazing and fun card plot. I am glad that it is still seeing the light of day in this "newer" age of card magic! Bring on the Cannibal Cards, Reset, Open Travelers, and Cards Across plots in my opinion!

    Strong Magic, Or Seriously Silly?

My vote is for Strong Magic. And while you are at it, also pick up Ortiz's Designing Miracles.

    No experience in Coin Magic

I'd have to say go for a book first. JB Bobo's Modern Coin Magic is kind of a must have for any coin worker.

Small tip for riffle stacking practice

Like baseball players use weighted bats to practice their swing, or track and field athletes use leg weights in some exercises, etc etc... try using Lee Asher's Fournier deck to practice your riffle stacking. The stiffness and extra weight in the cards will give your fingers quite the workout...

Fournier 605 Deck Review (Lee Asher Series)

I must say that push off DL's are extremely easy with these decks. So easy to the point that the P.O.DL almost seems like a beginner's move when using Fourniers =).

Touch My Hand (My Efforts for Her)

Your intentions were good and I am sorry they didn't work out. However, if she means so much to you, than why put up mediocre sleights? You flashed on EVERY single palm you did, and your other changes had mistakes/ mess ups as well. Why would you not re-shoot them to be able to make them...

    ponta spellbound

1: It is a remake of an old Chinese Coin. 2: The Chinese coin and Morgan Silver dollar are bigger than a 50 cent piece and English Penny. Bigger = more visual = better.

    Jazz a 1-coin routine

This is ridiculous. So great coin magicians, in your opinion, have been performing "intellectually insulting and silly" ideas since before you were born? If you do not realize how something as simple as, "I put the coin into this elbow here, and voilla! It comes out this elbow here!" can be...

    Business card revelations?

I used to, but after a while, it felt really gimmicky/ tacky. Also, when I gave out business cards w/o doing the reveal routine (handing out cards to groups of people, or when I am short on time), they ask "what does the 3 of hearts mean?" I'd honestly say to ditch the reveal. Keep it a bit...

Gambling: Keeping the full deck order.

I apologize for my poor wording. I do understand the mechanics behind stacking 2 cards in one shuffle. Currently, as a practice routine, I am up to stacking 4 cards in a 6 handed game in 2 shuffles (hold back 10, drop 5 under 3, drop remaining 5 under 2. repeat hold back 10, drop 5 under 1...

Gambling: Keeping the full deck order.

I have learned a lot from this thread. I have learned history, specifics on casino and home games, and I have learned about humility and how it takes shape and form. May we all strive to be better people reaching for the same goal: progress in the use of pasteboards. I think we can go ahead...

Gambling: Keeping the full deck order.

Wow, this is some interesting literature here. Kids yelling at adults (nothing new here) and kids saying they are better than adults (sometimes justified, but this time... not even close). I am not even going to get into Unknown, I have learned a while back just from reading the forums that...

    Why Cardistry?

Are you sure spending time on cardistry isn't the reason why college is difficult or why you got the F in physics?

    Jazz a 1-coin routine

My advice is to get a camera, point it at you, press "record", and start making it up as you go. Shoot 5 minutes straight of just you and 1 coin. As you go, work on different ways to make your first production, then just see what flows from there. After you are done, wait one day and watch...

    hand muking

Simon Lovell also goes into some detail about mucking in his "How to Swim with the Card Sharks... Without Being Eaten Alive!" tape/ dvd.

Gambling: Keeping the full deck order.

I am really glad you chimed in here Mr. England =). Not to mention that regardless if you are to use your techniques in a live game, full deck controls are commonly performed/ displayed in professional gambling demonstrations. I do a NDO full deck control at the start of one of my close-up...

Saturday Night Contest - Control The Aces

Congrats worldwideme! For the future, I would suggest dealing the 5th card (the kicker), to complete the gambling demonstration. It will give more of a "completed" feel to it. =)

    Riffle Stacking

Haha, I'm not Mr. Chang. His name on T11 is Liquidsn. In terms of using your riffle stacking in an actual live game, then yes, stud and draw are a bit obsolete and hold'em is the current game. However, in terms of gambling demonstrations, I still believe performing your riffle stack for a 5...
