There is no such thing as the "invisible pass", however, with enough practice, it can become unnoticeable.
No, there are invisible passes. Spectator burns the deck, and its done. Its one of the most visual color changes in magic, no cover at all, pure camera trick.
Ken Krenzel has a tape on it, which looks like trick photography. Richard Kaufman's pass is amazing, and many others like Ed Marlo, late Derek Dingle and even Luke Jermay.

On controls: Its all depending on what you want and the trick itself. You want them to think the card is lost in the shuffled deck? Do a shuffle like overhand or Hindu. Want them to think card is in middle? Do a Tilt, side steal, bluff pass, pass .. etc
Personally, I use the pass, a move by Slydini called Slide Out, and Tilt. I use alot of side steals here and there as well.
