Working a gig is a fun. You show up, you do your thing, you collect your stuff, and you go home. Just another day at the office really. So if doing a one night gig is just another day at the office then being part of a production is a lot like summer camp.
You've spent so much time and energy working with a group of very talented people to bring about a performance that enriches the audiences lives and inspires their imaginations in some way. You become closer than friends, you almost become like family. So when you soak in your last round of applause, bow your last curtain call, and go back to give everyone in the crew your last round of hugs, there's an emptiness in your heart that you know you'll never quite fill again. Sure you'll likely see everyone again, maybe even work with them at some point, but you will never be able to recreate the exact amount of magic that you just finished experiencing. That's what always makes those moments so bitter sweet.
It's great to be in a show but it's being in a production that brings about the fondest of memories.
