I haven't watched the DVD in a while, but I'll try and give you an overview of the teaching...

Basically DM talks a little about the flourish, how it cames about etc. Then the flourish and an overview are shown.
Then the flourish is taught, kinda like D&D, over the shoulder. Then the flourish is taught again, but with two 'boxs' on the screen and text to help out. Finally DM goes over any difficulties or problems you may face, kinda like what would be FAQs.

I believe that's it, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)

In my opinion, the teaching is brilliant, and I love DM's flourishes.

Hope this helped :)

Its definitely clearer than DnD's The System and Trilogy: Flourishes.

He teaches you OTS (over the shoulder) and verbally too. With some comments at the end and some applications. (and history, if there is any)

For instance, 'Stone' was a flourish that was sparked by Daniel's craving to use his forearm instead of just his hands. Etc.

Also, (no point in creating new topic) how difficult are the flourishes compared to the trilogy ones?

A lot of people say that they are easier, but personally I think it's a little deeper than that.
While on the Trilogy you have flourishes like Eko and Tectonic verb(different in their approach), Motion has more sybil-based flourishes. By no means all of them though, and I do not mean to belittle Motion. Motion has flourishes such as symphony and lethal, which again are very diffrerent in their approach, and different to anything on the Trilogy.
It's hard to explain, I guess it's just seeing different takes on flourishing. Different ideas and concepts that make up two different styles. I got Dangerous first and worked hard to improve my flourishing. Then the Trilogy. I use a fair share from each.

I think Motion has some very complex flourishes as does the Trilogy; and also easier ones, if you can do several Trilogy flourishes pick up Motion and vice-versa.

Sorry for the drawn out, jumbled, rambling answer, just writing what comes to mind really.

If you like the look of the Motion flourishes get it, and if you are already fairly proficient, you'll be fine.

:)

Edit: You can always get madness... For a 'taster' I highly recomend it the PDF.

I think trilogy flourishes are much harder- Pandora for instance practically spins a packet on every direction possible. All that was needed was an aerial- but that would invariably ruin the 'Flow' of Pandora.

Mayhem speaks for itself. The whole cut itself does look chaotic.

However in terms of learning curve, Motion has definitely easier flourishes. Bicycle, Stone and sleepless are all easy to learn. in fact i'd bet that you may even nail it on the first go. (not smoothly of course) but i doubt people would say the same to Mecka, Akira Let alone Jackson 5.

I have Trilogy, and I'm new to flourishes (Not to magic though), so I'm wondering if I should buy motion, learn some of those first so I get used to it, then move onto the Trilogy easiest ones and carry on like that, moving up.

For me, personally, I think Motion is better for me in my opinion because it helps me to prepare for the Trilogy that requires smoothness.

I'd go with SK here. Motion would start you off. things like guardian would get you familiar with Ashford kneitel's Tornado cut (I said familiar, not LEARN.) which is used in two or more flourishes in The trilogy.

Pandora is such a pain in the ass. ive been doing it for a year now. Nowhere to Buck speed/Finnesse.

Definately get hold of Motion (mystique too), as long as you feel you'll use it :)

Like Sinful07 said things like Stone and bicycle, you'll pick up quickly + they look and feel great. Symphony and things are easy too.

As you have the Trilogy though, no harm in starting... Try out Mecka, Akira and Eko or the basic molecule 4. My 2 cents.

Motion will help though, the more experience with flourishing the better really.
