Well, I have been fully dedicated to magic for six years now and plan to keep on doing it and make a profession for myself. At first it started off as an obsessive hobby that I couldn't stop doing and eventually escalated to the point where I was performing for Teachers, friends, and even random people. But as of this year I have suddenly realized how much my fame is spreading.
In the start of the year at High School I started performing for random tables of people at luncha nd eventually word got out to teachers about it all and theyb started to request tricks, which was very fun to fool a smart-ass science teacher and makje his jaw drop to the floor. It was cool.
Then, before Thanksgiing, and gain before Xmas, I visited the elementary school my mom teaches at and amazed some kindergarteners, first graders, second graders, and third graders. The teachers loved it and they always ask me to come back each year. And I always do. My mom even lets me skip school on those days.
But then I started getting noticed anymore. Al of a sudden a lady I worked with asked if I would be willing to put together a forty-five minute show for her daughters birthday. I agreed and that's what I am up to right now. In addition my hockey coach asked if I would do the same show at his daughters Birthday. I said I would love to. All the more publicicty. And a handsome paycheck and free cake and Ice ceam I might add.
Also, my school newspaper interviewed me and I am getting my picture taken tommorow to be placed alongside the half page article and interview.
I also a scheduled to do a large private party for about 40 families of New England Buisness owners. A weekend getaway if you will. It will be forty families. I am scheduled to do a forty-five minute show for the kids then 2 hours of strolling in the dining hall and bar for the adults. All close up cards adn what not. That is getting me a BIG paycheck plus HUGE tips. And the people who hired me say that I will most likely be offered other parties to attend by the other people if I do a good job. More publicity.
And Yestertday I was talking to some employees who wrok in the service desk in the grocery store I work at (I was about to punch in and they were on break.) And they asked to see a trick. So I did a quick one and the store manager saw me do A color change and asked me to do a trick. I did De Ja Vu and he freaked out and couldn't stop complimenting me. Later he made me perform for Him, The night manager, and the assistant manager and they all had a good laugh.
Now, sometimes at the store we have things called "Open Houses" where you get a big coupon book and you come in and try a bunch of free samples and all that. and it gets BUSY. Basically people come and have a good time, eat some food, get discounts and al that. The store manager says that he's going to find out when the next one is and he'll give me a dollar raise for that day and he'll schedule me for about 4-5 hours but I won't really work. I mean I'll be a magician instead. He'll even advertise me in our sales books.
So basically I am very amazed and happy at how well my fame is spreading right now. I feel like I am really starting to bewgin my dream of becoming a profession. I understand that I am no where near pros like b?laine and Copperfeild yet but everyone must start some where, right???
Please share your stories...
OH!!! And for the even with the buisness owners in June they told me to find a fanny pack or something to keep tips in. Any ideas???
Maybe the assassins pouch. Does anyone know where to get one???
