Jones Change

Hey everybody,
So I've been learning the Jones Change from the Trilogy by Dan and Dave, and I'm really confused. In the teaching part, the face card is the same as when he changes it using the Jones Change. Am I just hallucinating right now? If your answer to this is too revealing of the move, please PM me.
