Hey guys,
i was thinking on getting some loops from E, but i was wondering, i saw some other people say that some ones from penguin are better. I was just wondering what you guys think is the best.

Also, do you think loops are worth getting? cause im not too much into useing gimmicks or devices. i like just useing regular cards and coins. i really liked the previews on the loops dvds on E, so i wanted to see if you guys thought it was worth getting.

Thanks guys.

The loops you get from E are stronger but slightly less invisible (note: I've never been caught with them), whereas the ones from Penguin are slightly thinner (thus more invisible) but also slightly weaker. Out of the two of them, I prefer the ones E sells (Mesika's invisible elastic thread--I buy the thread reels and tie my own loops).

I believe it's worth getting if you put the time into learning how to use them (which should really go without saying, heh). When I first bought some loops, they sat on my shelf for quite a while...now I use them all the time. It took a while to get to the point where I was really confident in using them, but once I got the confidence, everything was good from there. They're a great tool, and they have the potential to help you create some real miracles, but really you get back what you give (ie. if you put a lot of time into learning how to use them, you'll be able to pull off some amazing things).

On a side note, I'd suggest the Loops DVDs that E sells, as well. They're a great starting point for learning how to use Loops. Lots of people seem to like Life from Danial Garcia's disc (although it's never went over well with me when I perform it for adults--little girls (ie. 7-10) LOVE it, though, heh), although I'm a fan of Hair from Daniel Garcia's disc (I prefer mentalism, though, so take that as you will). Either way, I like all of the discs, as they all contain some good advice and at least a few good tricks per disc.

In the end it's up to you whether you get them...I like them, but others don't. With the pre-tied loops costing like $10, and the spool costing around $25, the price is low enough that you can get at least one of those to try them (especially if you're just adding it to a larger order) and decide for yourself whether you like them or not. :)

Loops?

If you are going to use loops, I would go with Mesika's brand. I'm pretty sure those are the ones E sells. I buy mine from my local magic store.

They hold up well and are fairly strong. Lighting and background can be a proble with them so make sure you check your light and surroundings prior to performing with them!

Loops I consider to be a vital versitility tool to any magicians arsenal. Like the invisable deck, always good to have on hand (pardon my pun) just for when the right occasion presents itself.

They can also really make a reputation for you if you build them into your existing act!

I'd say do it!

I almost always have loops on me. If you have worked with them once, you will use it everytime because it packs very small and plays very big. I would suggest buying some premade loops, just to see how they work. Once you get the idea, I would get the million dollar knot from penguin including PET 2.0 (I believe that's the name) and learn how to make them yourself, because they are too expensive to buy premade. I make all of my loops myself from the penguin invisible elastic thread and they work great. So yeah, I'm thinking about checking mesika's thread once I run out of the penguin thread, but for now I'd suggest to get the penguin version so you'll learn how to make the special knot.

Loops are one of my favorite things to perform with. I don't do a lot of gimmicked magic either but a loop is so easy just to put on your wrist and have it ready whenever you'd like.

I've bought pre-made loops and also IET. I've used yigal mesika's and PET 2.0 but what I use now is infinity thread, because it's simply the best, I think it's worth the investment and you get (literally) a lifetime supply. You can find many reviews on infinity.

Yigal's spool is fine to see if you like using loops. I find PET 2.0 just breaks WAY to easily. In my opinion pre-made loops are way too expensive when you can just make your own, I use the million dollar knot method. I can make my loops last about 1 - 2 weeks before I lose it (usually when I'm taking off or putting on a sweater/jacket ect. infinity loops rarely snap if you're realistic in the things you move).

cool thanks guys, ill probably get some next time i buy from E or penguin. On penguin, the infinity thread is sold out. does anyone know where else that can be bought from?

Oh and i live in Dublin, CA. Does anyone know of a local magic store around my area? i know of magic misdirection, but i normally dont go there, cause my parents dont really like driving me one hour to SF just for a magic thing.
