Loops is an interesting thing, they can be fun or frustrating.
Here's what I did when I started loops: I bought 3 loops (from E) and all three Guerilla Guide to Loops DVDs (from E). You might have to save some money but it's worth it.
Hope it helps.

Loops are a staple in my magic. They are, without a doubt, my favorite utility gimmick.

Here's what I suggest:

Buy 1 pack of pre-tied Loops. This will allow you to see the average size a loop should be as well as get you the card they come on for storing them.

Then get a spool of Yigal Mesika's Elastics and start tying your own loops.

As far as learning to work with loops goes, I suggest getting the Loops 2 DVD set Yigal Mesika and Finn Jon put out. The Loops DVD set E put out is nice, but I think Mesika and Jon's set was much better. I definitely got much more out of it. I regularly use every effect on the set that Mesika teaches.

Hope that helps. If you need help learning to tie loops or need a way to carry them shoot me a PM. I came up with my own system for tying them and carrying them in my wallet that are both very convenient and that I've been using for years now.

Yes, Finn Jon and Mesika's dvds are much better. Some of E's were alright. Well, basically just Garcia's. Justin Miller's dvd in the set was a piece of trash, in my opinion. Not that he's not good, just that dvd was hardly worth watching. Kranzo teaches some basics, but none that aren't in the Mesika and Finn Jon (always have to say the full name lol) dvd.
