Playing cards pop up and down?

Hi,

I've noticed this problem quite a few times in multiple decks. After I open up a new deck and play with it a little bit, they begin to pop up and down, which is really annoying. Does anybody know what causes this and how to fix it?

thanks!

With where it says you are in the world, i'm going to tell you right now it is humidity. A card clip might help some but being in a humid climate myself cards warp quickly here as well.

It is the humidity of the climate / environment you are in and also the humidity of your hands, how long you use the deck, etc. There are many threads already posted on this issue with cards. You may want to search "deck click" and see what pops up on our forums.

The easiest thing I do is take half of the cards face up and half of the cards face down and continue to farrow shuffle and perform waterfalls / cascade the cards over and over. This will take the warp, click, or pop out for a bit. As mentioned, card clips will help additionally. Porper clips tend to work the best.

Temperature will also affect the humidity. Right now it is -26C/-14.8 F here and super dry.

Have you ever seen someone come in from the cold outside and watched their glasses fog up instantly? A deck of cards in your pants pocket in cold weather will do the same. I keep my decks away from my pants pockets and they don't warp as much. Some say that they can fix the cards by putting them in the freezer overnight. Never needed to try it.

I used to be a metal fabricator. The problem is the humidity and moisture combined. Their is a middle circle in the card that is getting stretched at a faster rate than the edges. So it HAS to pop out somewhere to compensate for the extra room. You need to stretch the outer edges so the inner ring has more room. this just means bend the edges and don't make them permanent. (It's like when you pull a blanket on all four corners. the weight causing a crater. its the same thing as the cards getting stretched. Maybe putting cards by a fire or dehumidifier will work. The moisture needs to be sucked out!
