As we begin the new year of 2009, I'd like to ask you all a simple question.
What are your new years resolutions?

This can relate to magic or anything non-magic related(keep it serious).
Is there a specific effect? flourish? control? that you want to learn or master?

Do you want to improve your patter or performance?

This way if you set a goal for yourself the end result will be extremely rewarding in the end.

I personally wish to improve and expand my flourishing knowledge and come up with more self-created effects and ideas.

So, whether it's perfecting Raise Rise or overcoming nerves it's really your choice.

What do you want to accomplish?

I resolve to finish my continuing work on Earnest Earick's magnificent book " By Forces Unseen". I also wish to finish perfecting all the flourishes I know, as well as create some new ones. I resolve to meet Dan and Dave Buck( wow I had no idea I was so ambitious=])
On an unrelated note I am a competitave swimmer and I resolve to lower my 50 free time to 25 seconds( so close!!!!26.8)

In addition to improving my magic.... my new years resolution is at some point throughout the year to:

1. Purchase True Astonishments
2. Purchase a heck of a lot of Wynns

;) (I'm dead serious too. :D I accomplished everything I wanted to accomplish from my last year's resolution.:p)

-Doug

I plan to get an 85 average on my report card, not buy any more cards until September, buy the Art of Astonishment books, save up for True Astonishments even if it does take 3 years, and still have 175 bucks saved at the end of the year.

I plan to keep doing magic. I plan to create more stuff of my own and stuff.

Also i plan to get at least a 93 or above in all my classes. I keep getting 86's in 2 classes and its really pissing me off.

My resolution is to create magic effects, sleights, etc. on my own. I need to start using my brain more and stop relying on others for ideas.

That and getting Maximum Entertainment to build my confidence. And get some Wynn's. And White Cents. And maybe some Jerry's when Lee does what he's going to do with them.

:://manks

I have to keep being cool.

That's it really.

Gustav

Okay, maybe I could also improve my performance by studying into Derren Brown's performance books and study audience managment a bit better. :p

Haha, I love that.

Anyway, I kind of always thought that the whole "new years resolutions" thing was sort of corny. I mean, why wait til' the beginning of the year to do what you need to do? If there is something you need to change, just do it, you know?

Back on topic:

I want to master dM's color change move used in a ton of his tricks. (ungimmicked breach)

Perfect my own flourishes

Make more of my own tricks and flourishes

Learn/Make up tricks not involving cards.

Become a master with my new revolver: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzzhKcuJAOI -I wanna be THAT good. LOL.

Make 4 awesome videos for 2009.

That's about all I can think of right now.

I see a few people talking about presentation and someone mentioned Maximum Entertainment. I highly recommend that book for everyone in magic. I would recommend you all buy that book before you buy another "trick" book or DVD. The book will help you so much in magic and life.

I've really gotta perform more, I've been a little slack lately.
At least I always perform my own tricks over and over again, until I think they're perfect, then I do it until they're actually perfect

1. Perform more often.
2. Perfect the flourishes I am currently practicing.
3. Try to win at least 1 SNC this year.
4. Lose a bit more weight (I've lost about 40 pounds since September)
