Skullduggery by Luke Jermay

I was researching Control and came across an effect called Skullduggery, which appears to be similar yet uses a gimmick and can be done on a spectator. Does anyone know anything about this? If so post it here. :)

PS. I also came across a rumour that wayne will be releasing an effect called Suffocate. If anyone knows anything about this , well you know what to do.

Unless you're talking about something else, Skullduggery is actually the name of a DVD by Luke Jermay, which includes his trademark pulse-stopping routine, along with a few others, mostly taken from his first notes "7 Deceptions". His pulse-stopping routine doesn't use a gimmick, although he does mention that it's possible to use the old classic gimmicked method of stopping your own pulse, which I'm sure pretty much everyone knows.

If you like suggestion-based material then Skullduggery, plus the 7 Deceptions notes, is a really good place to start.
 
Luke Jermay's pulse stop "For Andruzzi" uses no gimmicks and nothing but the power of human suggestion. it is also completely impromptu.

Seems nice eh?
 
Except most of the Hyponotic effects are impossible to pull off for someone that is not all in to the mentalism stuff to begin with. I dont see myself doing For adruzzi on a spectator within the next 10 years.
 
Suggestion effects are really not that difficult. If you're comfortable and confident performing for people, and have the ability to build rapport (as we all should have if we entertain with magic regularly), then the techniques of suggestion and persuasion will flow naturally from that. Probably the way to start and practice is by doing Derren Brown's "Invisible Deal" and "Invisible Force" from The Devil's Picturebook, or, maybe even before those, Luke Jermay's "RGM" from 7 Deceptions and Skullduggery. These are very basic psychological effects which can help you build confidence in reading and manipulating spectators. I would also recommend Ben Earl's Past Midnight DVD set. He studied psychology and has some interesting insights into psychological card work, with solid mechanical outs just in case you fail.
 
I second td's advice. Start with those effects. Andruzzi is a third or fourth level effect using only suggestion with no real outs. Build some confidence with the others. Work up to andruzzi. Incidentally, some of the notes with Andruzzi take Control to a whole different level.
