Now are you busking or doing a type of thing like David Blaine? Now you could rope tricks, sponge balls, sponge rabbits, any type of bill trick like fraud would be good. Using loops is a great way to make borrowed objects animate if you're into that type of thing. Any type of thing that leaves the spectator with a souvenir is a good effect for street magic.

Coin magic is a great way to learn street magic. Coin magic is impromptu, can be performed anywhere in the world, and can be done with a borrowed coin. I would suggest picking up 'Metal' by Eric Jones, and/or 'In the Beginning there were coins' by Jay Noblezada. Also, rubber band magic has become really popular lately, there are a few effects that they sell here on theory11, such as http://www.theory11.com/tricks/linx-alex-pandrea.php , http://www.theory11.com/tricks/stairway-marcus-eddie.php

Anything by Marcus Eddie is killer, highly recommended.
