Tally-Ho's or...?

Hey guys!

I wanted to know if you guys think that the Tallyho's are better, or the regular masters at E. $2 price difference adds up when you're buying 24. I do like the look of the Tallyho's better, but E is said too have the best quality decks in the business.

Thanks!

Mehar

Hey there, Mehar

Well, ever since I switched from Bicycles (all sorts of them, including Masters) to Tally Ho Cards (standards and Viper), I've become attached to the Tally's, generally because the Linoid Finish and how thin they are. they are also very smooth (in my opinion) and are durable to bends, which is good for me especially... :D.

Just for the sake of my boredom, I'll make a comparison chart.

Masters
Thick, Puts up with Bends, still smooth, the ace looks nice (can't be used with UltraGaff though), two full sized jokers (no guarantee on one of the cards)

Tally Ho
Thin, very good with Bends (Possibly better than Master's In my Opinion), Very smooth, Ace is a little bit too crowded (Once again, My Opinion) and one of the jokers have a guarantee which kind of ruins the consistency of pictures in my opinion (It's just words).

Well, there you go. If I were you, I'd go Tally's all the way. But then again, it's your choice.

David

thanks dave and praetoritevong, I'll ask my dad to grab me a deck of tallyho's tomorrow. The masters have the same finish as all the other E decks right? I found that E decks don't ''break in'' and get easy to spring, dribble, etc. Anyway, i'll probably decide tomorrow. Thanks you guys!

I've become attached to the Tally's, generally because the Linoid Finish
Funnily USPCC stated that their Linoid Finish and Air-Cushon Finish is excactly the same for quite some time now and the only difference (regarding the finish) is the naming.

Be warned, all E decks are now Air-Cushion Finish. Now printed on Bee-Grade casino stock.

Which just goes to show that preference is subjective and supposed feel is often nothing but a mental creation.
Well, I think you´re right altogether.

I bought a pack of bicycles a week ago and all I can say it sucks.
They feel terrible (I tested it with eyes closed to make sure it´s not just a placebo effect and could ALWAYS feel the difference between my other bikes and the new pack, without even thinking about), terrible...TERRIBLE....first I thought: damn, that´s my sandpaper....opened my eyes...oh no, it´s my new pack of bikes :(
As if this wasn´t enough, the pips are shrunked. No problem, that will be fixed in the future, but that horrible feel is a show-stopper. Maybe it was just my pack, don´t know.
But it´s getting better. The blue deck was non-traditionally cut, the red deck traditionally cut.

That annoyed the heck out of me. It´s a game of chance what you´ll get (off-printed or not, flimsy inferior feel or not, bad cut edges or not, differences in spreading ablilities and now even different cuts).
Constant quality seems to be an impossible endeavor for USPCC. I´m not expecting miracles, but that reminds me of the surprise-bags of my childhood.
If that´s the new standard they´re striving for, I´m done with them.

I know you were asking whether or not to get Tallys or Masters, but for sake of argument I am going to throw a couple other decks in the mix.

I just want to say I do not use Tally's. I have no urge to buy any Tally-ho decks after the move from Cincinnati to Erlanger. Everything I have heard about Tallys since the move has been enough for me to stick with my "regulars", which are Bicycle Ecos, Aladdins, and Stingers.

Ecos are the best Bicycle card you can buy. The feel of them is amazing. The availability of getting them in the US is great (wal-mart). They also last FOREVER! Seriously, I still have a deck that has been opened for the past 7 or so months and they still fan amazingly. Very highly recommended!

Next are Aladdins. These are my all time favorite cards. They are amazing, even after the move to Erlanger. If you buy Aladdins off of Ebay though, you need to be careful what you are buying. I posted this guide on Aladdins on the D&D forums a while back >Aladdin Buying Guide< These too are Very Highly Recommended!

Last but not least are Stingers. I will be honest when I first got my deck of T11 Bee Stingers from Erlanger Kentucky I hated them. I thought I wasted my money. Then I started to realize that Stingers are one of those types of cards that get better the dirtier and more broken in they get. I love Stingers. I do recommend these cards but I would check out the first two decks before I would buy these.

Also check out Arrcos and Bicycle Limited Edition Series 1. Be careful when buying Arrcos to make sure you get Cincinnati Arrcos and don't let the all white of the Limited Bikes throw you they are AMAZING handling cards.

Source or your comment is invalid....I know they don't feel the "same"
Certainly, because the feel of a card isn´t determined solely by the finish, or I wouldn´t be able to spot such a wide differences (with eyes closed) between my Ohio and Kentucky bikes, both Air-Cushion finish.

Contact USPCC (mail) and you´ll get the answer that all of their cards have the same finish, regardless of the naming. Which source could be more reliable than USPCC ?
That´s not my fault and I´m surely not happy about their recent company policy and quality control.

They are not exactly the same.

Here is a quote from the VP of Ellusionist about UV500 being discontinued.

"The best part is that the machinery, paste and finishing bond that USPC uses is pretty universal. There are just such small differences in the embossing and finishing process. My favorite USPC gag reel of all time has to be the Linoid finish of the Tally's. They put an extra part-per-million of urethane in the mix and now it's Linoid"

Gee, a quote about how USPCC works from Ellusionist. If what you said wasn't said everywhere else on magic forums like this, I wouldn't believe it. Not straight from the donkey's ass, anyway.

They also said they were going to discontinue Tally Ho's....And next time some other employee would say that they weren't...

In conclusion,....Every fooder level employee is not informed on the subject....I can guarantee that someone will claim that they are not the same...I believe them more.

Anyways...Tally's are not the same as regular Bikes....

Edit-

"No they are not the same, that would be dishonest of us and we are nothing but honest with our clients"

USPCC High Tier level employee

there you go.....
