Grasso is amazing. Hes no doubt my favourate. The one he did the time before this blew me away. Its still bugging me! This one was excellent! The first time I saw this I really had absolutely no idea how he did it.

Murray is good. The train was huge and the illusion was huge but I think most people got a good idea of how it was done. Its just another grand vanish. Grasso's was more. It packed a one...two punch.

I think Grasso has a good chance at this.

I think Grasso was better than Murray, but I'm honestly not very interested in either performance. Teller put it best, "Surprise me." Stage magic rarely surprises me. As soon as I saw Grasso in a coat with a hood, I knew he and his assistant were going to switch places. Since the stage was clearly empty when the assistant revealed herself, he was going to reappear in the audience. I've seen that bit a dozen times and I don't even watch magicians very often.

As soon as I saw a train on stage, I knew it was going to disappear. And really, that was his whole performance.

This is why I almost never watch stage magic. When you can predict the entire show before it happens, why bother watching it?

I'm not a Fan of Grasso a'tall, his ending was sloppy at best, and the "Method" was so transparent it wasn't even funny... the camera tried to cut away but didn't in time. people i talk to who are not in the magic even said how it was done, i mean they saw it on camera..

and then Murray.. not a fan of him either

Stage magic is a lot harder than closeup magic to make something look new that isn't. I mean you do card tricks most of the time the ending is finding their card whether by pulling it out or making a matchbook turn into the card or it goes to your pocket. You can only do so much with magic.

that is the attitude that restricts and limits this art.

Back in Time
I know people who aren't into magic and pretty much figured out how Grassos effect was done. But that could be less about his skill and more about the performing conditions he had and the amount of time he had to perform the illusion.

While Murray's illusion was big, it was too big for the stage. There was a little too much delay, and the cover took up almost all of the stage, and only had 1 moment of magic.

Grasso's performance was mysterious, you wanted to know what was going on. It also packed 3 moments of magic; The vanish, Switching bodies, and the appearance. It's better to watch magic unfold than have everything happen all at once in this case.

Yea, Murray's was good, just too big for the stage. Grasso's illusion was perfectly sized and had a bigger impact. In the end I wanted Sperry but Grasso would be my second pick.

Hopefully Grasso makes it to the Finals tonight!

It's too bad that Murray went home. He basically did Michael's trick already (in terms of vanish and reappearing in the crowd). So he stepped it up to vanish a train (something unique and different for the competition). What will Michael do next? Vanish a car? I enjoyed that Murray talked to the audience rather than the typical musical/dance act. I want to see more character, and I think Murray offered more there.

However, still glad to see a magician in the top ten. Hope he makes it to the end. Not sure of where he can take it to next.
