All I'm saying is that it depends on the maturity level of the person. Sometimes the age effects the maturity, but not always. So, no, age does not matter.

When I turned 13, like 2 months ago, I had 2 or so years of experiance, and I might not have been the best magician in the world, but I was pretty good. That is pretty stereotypical, why not say, some, or a few?
Now, I do agree with you that there are a lot of bad younger magicians out there, and while they may "suck", we should help them not "suck", instead of going around saying most of the kids under 13 suck.

The younger you are the more imagination you have. This is why you are able to come up with the most ridiculous things. These can help you in magic. When I was 13 I had the idea to do the spinning a card on my finger thing face up and as it spun have it visually change. My friend and I tried to work on it but to no avail. But at least we had the great idea... maybe one of you can make it work.

That is 101% crap. Imagination is a muscle that must be trained or lost. And imagination is something we as magicians cannot afford to lose! (Imagination births creativity.) With this in mind I have honed my imagination to a sharp point. You should too!
[EDIT] Heck, I have a better imagination now that when I was little!

I disagree. There is a member on this site that tells everyone he is 15. In reality he is 12, but his knowledge is great. Age should have nothing to do with how you are looked at.

FYI that is not me he is referring to, I am really 15.
But, Doug is right, age has nothing to do with the matter. Sure age could also mean experience but, sometimes just because you're older does not make you any more knowledgeable about the topic at hand than the person who is younger.

I think Theory11 needs new people; there would be no point if everyone was really experienced because then nobody would need helping but there would also be no point without experienced magicians, as there would be nobody to do the helping. On the other hand, the young people are the future of magic, no matter how experienced they already are. And they may have qualities that older people lack, thus helping their magic (for example, creativity - not saying this as a fact, just as a possibility that has been suggested). So I think that Theory11 needs both young and old people and I think that magic in general is helped by Theory11 having young and old people.

From a business point of view? Children are the greatest thing ever, its a proven fact that children control where their parents money gets spent. Billions of dollars are spent every year for commercials geared toward children. So no offense to Jon but I can see why he enjoys them on this forum.

Children of today are spoiled and it shows with the constant "what should I get next posts" and the "Hey whats cool this month? should I get it?"

I think that this is a little unfair. When you think about the amount of "what should I get next posts" and the "Hey whats cool this month? should I get it?" as you put it, it does seem rather annoying. But when you think about how many members there are in these forums and that the proportion of those are kids, it actually doesn't seem that many. And when you think that the same person might post something like that twice, it seems even less. I'm not saying I disagree with you, I just think you're being a little harsh in general.
I may be harsh at times but this is a debate and every post isn't going to be sugar coated.
Look at some of the great magicians. When they wanted to learn something new, they had to read a book, or seek out someone to teach them. All a kid has to do today is click a few buttons and BAM they can learn any trick they want.

Hmm s'pose. But this isn't just applied to magic, this is general 21st century life. That's how the industry would like it; fuller pockets for them. And if that's how the industry wants it, then that's how it happens.
The reason I say it wa better when we were young is because of the stuff we could come up with and believe. I mean, do you remember this?
MOM: "Honey why is there water on the floor?"
YOU: "Cause an elephant came in and sprayed it all over the place then flew away."
The funny part is that after 10 kinutes, you totally believed your own lie. And By the way I do have a great imagination now.

When you ask this question are you reffering to me? Because if you are I would like to let you know that Steerpike and I are pretty cool with each other and share many of the same veiws on certain subjects. So when I post if I sound like him it is because we have common goals.

I like that you make many assumptions. Not. I'm a 13 year old kid, and I get most of my tricks and what I learn from the 9 books I try to use on a day to day basis. Just because you know one freakin' kid like that, does not mean that all kids that are on here are spoiled brats. And don't you think it is good that kids can easily access magic? Just because you had to work your... butt off to learn something does not mean you have to rub that in our faces. You make me so angry on many levels, that I cannot even describe it in this post!

It is human nature to choose the easier of two paths. If someone tells you to learn how to levitate for a big show in one month and you are given two options to learn this "new" technique.
Option 1: Go to this website and watch the instructor do it and show you how.
Option 2: Drive one thousand miles to his house so he can teach you himself.
MOST people would pick option 1 for the simple fact of... its easier. SOME hardcore would drive the distance just to meet the instructor.
The problem with children and the internet is that most have not learned to appreciate what is given to them.
This is why you see "Hey what should I get next" posts. They don't care what it is, as long as everyone is doing it and its AWESOME!

Imagine chris kenner or Lee Asher performing magic as a kid, and everyone told them to not do magic. We would be missing out on some of the best magic ever.
