Do you have tipps for stand up magic?

Make sure you have a well thought out script that flows nicely. By flow, I mean that the procession of of the show should logically make sense to people (i.e. none of the "And for my next trick..." type of stuff). Spend as much time as you can with your script. Revise it dozens of times if you...

Q: How To Engage People (Street Magic)

Christopher's recommendation of CIQ is perfect if you are doing guerrilla style (David Blaine style) street magic. If you are looking to open up a street show (i.e. busking) I would recommend some kind of flashy lure. I personally use sword swallowing which you can see the results at the 3:00...

    Unpopular magic opinions.

That could honestly be more of a fact than an opinion.

    Unpopular magic opinions.

My unpopular opinion is that card tricks are overrated and generally very boring to watch. That's not to say that I don't like some card tricks, there are some really cool effects out there, but there is an ocean of generic effects.

Who do you think is the best magic teacher today?

It's not that I don't like him, I just don't agree with him if that makes sense. He was the headliner of Michigan Magic Day and when I went to see his show he belittled every volunteer he called up. It just made my friend and I cringe at how he was treating his volunteers and his jokes were a...

Who do you think is the best magic teacher today?

Another vote for Michael Ammar from me. That guy is a legend. Second to him, is Dan Harlan. While I don't agree with Dan Harlan's performance style, I can't deny that he is one of the most thorough magic teachers out there. They couldn't have picked a better performance to do video lectures on...

    Magic Gig Tips

I second a vote for The Approach. It's a really good book. The co-producer of my Street to Stage show and I did a live hangout where we share all the stories and experience we learned while producing it. That show led to quite a few gigs so if you are interested, I'll share the video link here:

    Magic Vlog

Thanks so much Justin! I have been discussing with my team what is the best way to change up my channel and we want to change up the formula to the reviews at some point in the future and put more emphasis into vlogs. We're still not sure what's the right path but we are going to experiment...

    Magic Vlog

Thanks Gabriel! I've been itching to perform some card magic I've been working on so I might include that. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Magic Vlog

Happy New Year everyone! To kick off the year, I thought I would try my hand at making a magic vlog. It would mean the world to me if you guys could give me feedback on it. I would like to know what you liked, didn't like, and how I can make it more entertaining since this is my first attempt...

Nailed It by Scott Alexander Review

Last review for 2017! What better way to end it than with a review of one of my favorite effects and a live performance!

You can thank me later. ;) In all seriousness though, I'm so happy that this study was conducted. It confirmed a lot theories...

Saturday Night Contest - Resolutions for 2018

2017 was a pretty crazy ride in terms of magic. In March I got to meet Michael Ammar and attend his live lecture. In May I got to attend a magic dealers event and sell some of my products physically which was a cool experience. The big unfortunate thing that happened was the venue I had for my...

    Half-Baked Products

I have bought so many bad magic products over the last couple of years. That's why I started my review show to share my experiences, both good and bad, with others in hopes of educating them more before they make a purchase. As I've matured more into magic, I realize how to make more with less...

Showcasing magic and learning through YouTube

I think what everyone here is missing is the big picture: You are performing a card trick to a webcam/camera. I have preached this consistently on here (granted it's just my opinion) that there is nothing more boring than doing a card trick to a camera. Plus it is one of the worst things you...

    Penguin magic discussion tab

I personally use it and try to reply on there as much as I can. I think it's a good system, just severely underutilized since you have a big range of people on Penguin. When I was at a magic dealers convention in Colon, Michigan I learned that a lot of the people there (nearly 95% of them were...

Name of these two mentalism tricks? Can't seem to find them!

For the second one, I think the op was looking for something that means something special to the spectator. The problem with book tests such as Fearless is it has a volunteer flip through a book and find a random word. It doesn't really hold any personal meaning to the spectator.

    Code breaker??

Definitely! It's a tool that gives you a lot of options as to what you can do with it. It truly is limited only by your creativity.
