    First Street Performance!

Justin, as David had mentioned, please tell us a little bit in regards to what you have learned. What were some highlights from the performance? What could be improved upon? Just simply stating you are now magic full time after two street shows and some gigs sounds a bit misleading/confusing...

    How to delete a conversation..

If you are talking about deleting a private conversation you simply click your profile pic when in the forums, go to conversations and check the box next to the conversation you'd like to delete. Then at the next pop up window click the drop down arrow that says Other Action and then click Leave...

    Best magic subscription service?

I'm going to be brutally honest here and don't take it as an insult at all, but more of a "this" is what I would do if I were in your shoes. I would save your money and find someone local that could serve as a mentor/instructor to you. Look up a local IBM ring near you and possibly join the...

    Side Strippers?

Well....the title of this thread sure grabbed my attention. Ha. Reality is spot on as usual so no need for me to repeat.

    Tables

You can do a chop cup routine on a very small close up pad if you wish. I do a lot of things where the magic happens in their hands or I do magic that I hold up chest level at the end of the booth table for all to see. It's tough the moment you lay things down on tables because then not everyone...

Brunch invite for 7 year old birthday

I think she is probably also looking for a member here to provide her with the guest card from a member. I am not a member but Johnny Ace Palmer got me in.

What kind of case do you carry to close up gigs and street performances?

Go to Walmart and look in the cosmetic section. They have very sharp looking cases that are black and silver. You'll like what you see. I've use one of these for years. https://www.walmart.com/ip/14-x8-x10-Trays-Cosmetic-Makeup-Train-Case-Aluminum-Storage-Lock-Jewelry-Black/182476038

    Tables

Honestly I've been strolling and restaurant work for 18 years and I've never used a table for that type of venue. I'm not saying its wrong, but its one more thing that gets in the way of servers and waitresses and forces you to carry something. Just my two cents.

    Ring Magic Suggestions?

If you want something cheap, but effective look up Ed Ellis "Lift Off" and "Twistration" on the marketplace. We both use this daily in our arsenal.

Thing that you still struggle with?

I completely agree with this one too as we are creatures of habit and tend to dwell on what has brought us success in the past. We know its our "go-to" material that will fry them anyway and have done it hundreds of times. However, I will say my turnover pass is still unusable in performance. Ha.

Signed Card To Sealed Deck- Shawn Farquhar

Shawn performed this effect on me back in May. It is AWESOME to say the least.

    Fear of Performance

Hi Matthew. If you cannot find any local rings/clubs you can definitely put one together by finding like minded individuals near or around your area. I would check the IBM website to see what all it takes to begin a new IBM charter. Typically you have a meeting night and time which is the same...

    Opinion from pro magicians

I've worked a few wedding receptions during cocktail hour(s) and during the reception after the dinner portion. I charge a bit more because typically everything does not run right on schedule and there will be breaks where you are waiting on people to go through the food buffet or listening to...

    Wish me luck

Prayers to you and your wife. Since you are not allowed in the hospital, you may find that performing some simple card effects for people out in the nearby park may help relieve your stress and anxiety and help pass the time. Just an idea.

David Blaine Reactions - Good or Bad?

Oh David you have no idea how much I appreciate your "immitate DB's monosyllabiac presentation" statement. Ha. That was good stuff right there. As to the original poster's question and or comment...how you present your magic and the reciprocated reactions will evolve over time as your patter...

    Fear of Performance

I see both sides of the fence here for sure. Originally I was against new students post material on social media due to it not being ready for release/presentation and causing exposure and potential embarrassment; however I am lucky enough to be a member of a local ring and have about 20...

    Opinions on the Masked Magician?

I cannot say I agree or disagree with the masked magician TV specials. Did they serve a purpose? Yes. Did they get many more people to watch a TV special that normally may not have? Yes. Did it create enjoyment and satisfaction for viewers and maybe even spark some new interest into magic? Yes...

Hired as a magician( but don't know a lot of tricks)

So basically in a nut shell I would take a few of these guys' recommendations and go with: 1.) Do not do it for pay, nor have your friend build you up as the great magician that is going to be wowing them all night. Aka the performing monkey. 2.) Just prepare maybe 4 actual routines or pieces...
