What are your favorite impromptu, gimmickless card tricks?

Sloppy Triumph, Clutch from Oz Pearlman, & the Biddle Trick are 3 of my favorites that play quite nicely.

    Very beginner question.

Honestly go with what "feels" natural and normal to you. Trial and error is your friend. How do you think people find new variations? They deviate off the path a little bit. :)

    Advanced, amazing card-magic book?

The Tom Gagnon material is VERY difficult sleight of hand. If you don't have the basics or fundamentals down then NO...by all means do NOT purchase Tom's material. This material is for those top 10% people out there who are card experts. I would go with Card College or Royal Road. Don't buy...

    Advanced, amazing card-magic book?

Tom Gagnon is one of the best I've ever sat with and seen some crazy sleight of hand that was undetectable. I bought his book and am still working on things years later. We were at Abbott's Close Up Convention. It was me, Eric Jones, Tom Craven, Tom Gagnon, and many others...

    Approaching People

The shaking phase is completely normal and we've all gone through this. It's just your adrenaline/nerves and fear of messing up. It happens to the best of us. Eventually with enough experience under your belt the shakes diminish and eventually go away completely. They will I promise. Ha. As...

    Selling my Trick..

Unfortunately as David has posted, the financial battle you would have on your hands would far exceed lost revenue for a magic effect. With today's technology and people who want that "immediate" gratification because they are the one who "know" the secret will post it online thus hoping to gain...

    PDF's vs Books

For me I prefer books solely for the purpose of having something "tangible" in my hands where I am flipping pages and holding onto something. I know that sounds way off base ha ha, but just my preference. Plus I like to see all of my books on my shelf. It brings about a sense of pride/ownership...

New here & Classic Pass work Video

I myself do not perform the pass or even use it; however my mentor always has taught me to use body motion (bigger motion to cover the small) Perhaps even extend your arms forward or back towards yourself while talking to the spectator when executing the move.

Where you can learn amazing and 'brand new' magic!

I will watch this later tonight when I am off work, but yes, almost all of today's material is just old effects from books only the effects are "dressed" differently if you will. I have found gems in old linking ring magazines from the 70's and 80's.

    Long Routines

As Christopher has mentioned....if you do not do a good job on a long routine you will lose momentum and your audience will have less "buy" in on your next effect. I always try to "hook" my audience whether it be on stage or at a table in the first 30 seconds. That is about the length of time...

Animal Kingdom: a bit of a disappointment

Elok, I am sorry that this happened with your deck. Have you contacted Support yet? I do not work in the shipping department, but I am sure Customer Service/Support will take care of you as long as you have made them aware.

How do I start booking gigs?

Tyler's post offers a plethora of info that I concur with. I started out 20 years ago, just by simply entertaining friends/co-workers; however we all know that audience then becomes difficult to keep entertaining because they then become so close to you that they feel it is more of a "game" to...

    subscription box

I like this idea a lot. So it would almost be like the Dollar Shave Club where each month I get a box shipped to me with items that I want "monthly", but I also have the ability to add or delete items as well from a set list of items? Or am I completely off base here? I do know they send samples...
