    Card in mouth

Card to Mouth is normally performed during an Ambitious routine, however I would do so with caution as many clients/spectators then don't want to touch the cards or deck. Especially when you are working a strolling gig or restaurant. It's just gross to have cards in mouth in that type of...

    We can't let magic die

I believe magic is alive and well it just has "adapted" and changed a tad bit to our current society and technology. The thing that I dislike in my own personal opinion are the young kids performing Youtube/Instagram magic in front of the "safety" of their own camera and thinking they are truly...

Does anyone know where you can get a brick of cards other than Bicycles?

    Walk around card magic?

A good triumph routine is always solid in a card workers repertoire. A card transpo is good as well as Oz Pearlman's Clutch. I also do an ambitious routine and a lie detector all with regular deck. It will save you tons of pocket space. Don't feel bad. 17 years ago heading to my first strolling...

Where to Buy Brick of Bike Standards?

Sam's Club, Costco, BJs Wholesale are the only places I've had luck.

    Would you buy this Effect?

Showing a demo video of "said" effect would be much more beneficial so we can see the magic happen.

    What would you perform?

I'm going to post an interesting topic and I'm curious to see what my "worker" friends out there would perform in this given scenario. This past Friday night I was out to eat/drinks with my girl friend and this just happened to be a time when I chose to NOT bring a deck of cards, rubber bands...

Has anyone actually had this happen?

I've had a few adults in their 50s ask if it was that special deck that used to be sold on TV I guess back in the day. Many people know about a Svengali deck. I use a Mirage deck in one of my Cowboy/Cowgirl shoot a card tricks.

People taking deck and organizing it/playing solitaire?

I can't say I've ever had that happen either. I've had people question me before if I was using a "real" deck in which I reply, "Sure...go ahead and shuffle." After performing 2-3 effects with the normal deck I will pocket it, go onto rubber bands or something and then as an after thought, ring...

    Pricing Discussion

My first birthday party show ever 20 years ago I charged $50 for a friend's child. The money didn't matter to me. It was about getting exposure and learning how to put a show together and how to handle the kids. To me that paid dividends compared to the financial piece. It is a double edged...

    Pricing Discussion

The Approach is a phenomenal resource that many of these new aspiring guys should purchase right away. I wish I had a book like that 20 years ago. I learned by jumping straight into the fire. And boy was the fun (sarcasm)

    Pricing Discussion

Great post David. I am not shy and will share my rates and of course it also depends upon your area/demographics as well. I am located in an area of Ohio that does not spend lots of money on things like this nor do I want to travel more than an hour away so this is what I have found works for...

    Magic competition

I have watched numerous magic competitions and one thing that stands out is you want to not only demonstrate your skill, but more importantly, your ability to "entertain" the crowd/audience. I do think you have a great idea. Smile, relax and most importantly have fun.

how magic simplified your life ?

I would say that like many of you I have learned a great deal about how to advertise, become a better people person/social skills, organizational skills, time management, how to dress appropriately or a step above everyone else at gigs and so much more. I love every aspect of what magic has done...

how do you protect your cards?

You can use a Joe Porper card clip, which does a fine job or you can purchase other clips that may be a bit cheaper. Honestly I only use cheap bicycle cards from Costco and don't even protect my cards. I just pitch the deck or after my shows/performances or hand them to a kid and watch them...

    Penn and Teller review

I'm not disagreeing with you, I am just shocked that their show had changed that much in 5 years to be that drastically different.

    Penn and Teller review

Wow, this post really caught me off guard because I went and saw Penn and Teller in Vegas about 5 years ago and it was phenomenal. I would have given it a 10/10.
