Cups & Balls - Great routine

Doesn't his routine end with large clear balls and solid cups? That is a pretty sweet routine.

    Gigs at a local museum...

Depends on how you present each new idea about energy. Energy comes in many different forms (food, light, motion...etc) and each effect can be a different idea. If you wanted to expand the idea you could go with energy and matter, the differences and how they co-exist. Gamblers do entire shows...

Cups & Balls - Great routine

The script could use a bit of rehearsal (though in front of an audience he may do better) but the routine itself was amazing. There was another rule that he didn't break, that Penn and Teller do, Never use clear plastic cups for the cups and balls! Thanks for sharing Rev.

    Wow... This is a first...

Congratz on being remembered Robby, it's always a good feeling to have someone recognize you from one encounter years ago. On the side topic, I thought the forums had gotten better about comments like that...I guess these things come in waves.

    I Found this on Youtube.

Seeing as it was directed towards people exposing, and I don't expose, I quit watching after that slide. It was going too slow, didn't really grab my attention. Also a good way to fool many magicians, often from books they have on their shelves.

    Chris Kenner and Facebook...

I was friends with him as well, he decided to take everyone who he'd never met in person off of his list. He posted this a while ago (takes a long time to delete thousands of people). I didn't take personal offense, I actually deleted him to give him one less to do. If he decides he may make a...

Jersey Magic Review: Smoke by Alan Rorrison

I don't own smoke, I might pick it up when I have the cash though. I just wanted to note that if those are Sergei Lukyanenko's Night watch Series books you're behind, 4 out in English and I believe a 5th to come out sometime. Just looking out.

    A Subtle Card Vanish

The vanish was nice, my first instinct watching was that I would personally want to handle the deck afterwards. Laymen will think it's still on the deck, just flipped over (or something crazy like that), and want to touch/ check it out. Other than that it was clean.

MENTALISM: How to learn and practice?

There are some things in Mentalism that can (and should) be practiced in private. A few examples would be pocket writing, nail writing, billet switches (make sure they look natural) and reads... As far as building rapport and believability...I'm thinking you just have to go out and earn it...

Through a layman's eyes, which looks fairer?

Inserted, shuffled, and cut by the spectator. That would be the fairest to a laymen. Wouldn't hurt if your back was turned. As for those options, it depends on the trick. Like you said 'somewhere in the middle' is perfect for ACR's and other routines, but completely lost is better for others.

    Gospel Magic

That would go over well:rolleyes:. Everyone else has given great advice. This isn't any different than thinking up presentations for other effects, in fact it should be easier because you already know your subject matter. Just pick a few stories and think of what the story illustrates...

    Kaleidoscope Cards by Royal Magic

Good review nremtb, the effect sounds pretty cool. This would be a good trick to use when you want to switch out decks, put a regular one a way and then do a trick with this one and then bring out a different regular deck (stacked, gimmicked...etc) for your next trick. Thanks for the review...

Grasshopper effect/wouldn't mind some constructive crit...

Awesome, it seems like a worker, do you do anything before or after? Ace production to one transposition...is there another phase in the works? or do you have a trick to follow it? Just curious, it seems a bit lacking...well maybe, watching a trick without any presentation always seems to be...

Oh! I would also suggest falling in love with a deck that will never go out of production, that way you will always be able to get them. Just a thought.

Grasshopper effect/wouldn't mind some constructive crit...

Pretty sweet effect, I like the idea. A few things to note: You sped up when doing Marlo's CC, you were slow up until then and then sped up while you brought your wrist down. Just make it one smooth speed, if you're presentation has a line there it will draw peoples attention away more than...

My New ace production video: Ace Factory

So four aces were produced one at a time, each time between two jokers...to music. While done well from a technical POV, I can't say it was entertaining. How do you introduce this to an audience? Why jokers? Why not produce them without the aid of other cards, like in Earl Nelson's Exploding...

    Music for Video

It really depends on who you are and who you're marketing to. If you want CEO's of fortune 500 companies your music will differ from kids birthday parties. Circus music isn't the best when trying to obtain a restaurant gig, but might do wonders if you're a magician who is also a clown. If you...

    New Year Resolutions

*Read 50 (non-magic) books *Save more monies than I did this year *Finish fleshing out my character for performances *I'm gonna catch'em All *Weight loss...of which the holidays didn't help. I should be able to get one or two of them done in a year...
