Yeah, his one handed cuts are pretty neat, but they aren't really my style. I mean, I wouldn't pass up learning them, but I'm not going to pay $50 to get those skills. Overall of that kind of super skill show-off realm I like the Bucks' smoothness over Tudor's speed-brilliance.

Control: worth more than the secret?

Thanks, everyone. However, the question remains: is that impromptu-ness is worth $30?

Control: worth more than the secret?

Yes, of course. :) My method is pretty much like that one but with one or two improvements. Ends up working about the same way. But it works; is the method behind Control really much more effective; i.e. can you exercise more "control" over the exact pulse count, or any such like? Why is...

Control: worth more than the secret?

Here's an issue: I already know how to stop my pulse, but I don't know how well I can make an effective trick out of it. Control seems to be a well made product, but I'm curious if you think the "extra" stuff is worth $30 when I could, potentially, just figure it out via trial and error. Thanks...

I don't care too much for Tudor's stuff that I've seen (mostly impressive for magicians, not laymen, and I don't care for that), and though I like D&D's stuff for just popping a flourish now and then, it's not that great for improvising or doing a routine. I haven't seen much from Andrei, but I...

    Should I get Mystique, too?

The palming bit is good; I have no palming skills right now and would love to develop that ability. Thanks ya'll.

    Should I get Mystique, too?

I'm almost through the material from the second disc of the Trilogy (still got sybilism, leno cut, and pandora to go, and working on smoothness of other things) and am looking for new places to go. I like the stuff I've learned from D&D; it's good stuff for just popping a flourish that makes...

A Simple Escape to do in Drama

You can throw in a drawstring canvas bag. Cut a hole on the inside edge of the tube that the rope goes through, opposite from the hole where the two ends of the rope come out. That way you can pull the rope in as a helper ties you up tight, and when you're trying to get out you can loosen the...

May 2009 :: YouTube : Angel or Demon

I don't know how much YouTube has actually affected the so-called "magic industry", though I can guess that it has rather greatly affected the average kid getting into magic. But how to deal with it? There's a fantastic video hidden away on this site that's a sort of introduction to...

    Should you get BeLieve?

Well, if you have a non-card trick for your next effect, that solves the problem. That is an issue, though; I'll have to think and see if there' s a way to transition straight into a new card trick.

"You still have a long long long way to go." To get to where? "Instead of relying on new material, create your own." I'm not interested in that at this moment, though I probably will be in the future. In regard to Brain Tudor: I looked at a few of his videos. The flourishes look massively...

    Should you get BeLieve?

I was highlighting how this effect is a great opener, not how it is better than other effects that involve torn cards. Also, in my experience the cost of losing a card is completely negligible in light of the benefits of this effect.

    Should you get BeLieve?

After my first truly succesful performance of Joel Paschall's BeLieve ten minutes ago, I have decided that the effect is, in fact, the perfect opener. (Even without all the philosophical mumbo jumbo, fun as that may be. It depends on your spectator.) Plus, I don't have to worry about it...

    New albums

Last year I purchased the Trilogy as a near complete beginner, and have since gotten most of the material down. I'm looking around for new flourish albums and am interested in diversifying. I like how D&D's cuts work as complete units, but other things I've seen seem to be a little bit more "my...

Removing the Ego from your magic.

I find that this subject is much simpler than portrayed. Do we show people tricks to make ourselves feel good or to give them a gift? It's an important question to answer and then act on. As a Christian I feel no need to do a yucky witness thing while doing magic. I simply need to follow my...

Yes, but Mecka is hardly something for beginners. If you're interested in getting started with flourishes, then check out the sticky on the top of the cardistry/flourishing forum.

Well, it depends what you've done already and what the 1-10 scale is set on. If you list the flourishes you already know we might be able to give you some more accurate information. I'd say it's one of the more difficult two handed cuts in the Trilogy. It's harder than Akira, Tectonic Verb, and...

    Trilogy

I don't recommend starting out with the Trilogy if you are a beginner. Why? Check out this post. Besides that, before you purchase I suggest you do some research and pull up several different flourishing DVD's, look at the various different styles, and choose which one appeals most to you. Other...
