    Angle Zero Performance

Maybe it's not entirely their fault.

    How would you spend $200?

Thanks for your suggestion; it is an important one. I do have Bobo's and am looking into traditional card basics resources. I already have a decent background and will definitley start building up my basic skills as I work more and more with this. (Especially with coin magic which I am new to.)...

    How would you spend $200?

Here's an interesting situation for you to think through: unexpectedly one day you get two hundred dollars. You decide pretty quickly that you want to invest it into magic, getting higher level stuff that will set you apart and really fit with your style, and want to get things that will work...

    A Stopgap Transformation

I didn't think of exposure. I've taken the video off. And I've put another one on. I worked on the force a bit and hopefully it'll be better this time. (or maybe you'll have to yell at me again :)) Comments on the patter would also be appreciated, since in reality I care more about my...

    A Stopgap Transformation

Crud. I guess I just need to spend more time in front of the mirror... I re-watched the video, and think I see where I might have flashed it a little bit. I don't think it's something someone would notice unless they were looking for it, especially if they're a layman.

    A Stopgap Transformation

I have posted my very first magic video on YouTube. (Well, it's actually my second, but the first one isn't much good. So I guess it's my first half-decent magic video.) It's D&D's Commercial. I can tell my riffle force isn't great, so I'd love any comments on that or on anything else...

Ah, but that's half the fun. Maybe thirty seconds.

    Motivation

Yeah, the best way to get better at performing is to do it more. It's just like a sport; you have to actually get out there and practice instead of just thinking about it. I do recommend speaking books for some back ground info, though, like Dale Carnegie's Effective Speaking.

    Collectors challenge anyone?

I'm interested, though I'd like it to also require patter.

    Good kind of exposure?

I think posting explanation material is perfectly ethical as long as the effect explained is not being sold by the magician who created it or the magician who has proper rights to it. Of course, there's also the bit about the fewer magicians who know a certain sleight the better it is, but I...

Easiest trick from Totally Out of Control

Geez, three different recommendations! What do I do? *hides head in sand* Chr!s- I'm referring to coin tricks; I'm pretty good at cards. Not compared to most people on here, of course, but in real life I'm mindblowingly better than everyone else they've ever met.

Easiest trick from Totally Out of Control

I recently got Chris Kenner's Totally out of Control to get some more variety in my magic, to branch out from just cards to coins and other miscellaneous items. (I don't think I'm going to be performing Into the Woods at school, though.) I've learned a few of the card tricks and am happy with...

    Believe Variability

Thank you all; I think this will be my next purchase to spice up my card magic.

How long do I have? Would you be willing to require patter/a live performance?

    Believe Variability

I'm considering purchasing Believe. First, is there anything on the DVD that you don't get in the download? If there is, is it worth the $5 shipping cost? Also, I have a question about the nature or Believe, which I hope can be answered without the danger of exposure. What's its variability...

    Sandwich Tricks

Deja Vu from D&D is fantastic, and if performed well gets great reactions.

    Need help with Eko

Thanks! I went to YouTube and watched a scissor cut tutorial, went back and watch the overview for Eko, and it helped a great deal. My left hand fingers are screaming.

    Need help with Eko

"Just practice" isn't helpful; I've been working on it for two months. There's no reason to keep on doing it the wrong way if there's an easier way of doing it. There's obviously a technical reason I'm having trouble moving the cards in my left hand, one that isn't being solved by practice.

    Hand to Mouth Performance

I've realized something today: for all of our talk about what tricks are best and what we like the most and what not, it really does come down to performance. Today I was "in the zone" and was performing better than I usually do. I did "Hand to Mouth", usually not considered that great of a...

    Need help with Eko

I've been working through the flourishes in the Trilogy (so far the Molecule and Akira) and have struggled with Eko. I can do the first bit pretty well, but am having trouble getting the two packets around each other in my left hand. My hand is pretty big and pretty flexible, so I don't think it...
