    Street Magic Audience

You have to remember that not everyone likes or is entertained by magic. I've found that there can be a stigma against "magic" where it is seen as cheesy, juvenile or even condescending. Somewhere along the line that person encountered a magician or performer that turned them off to it. It all...

Then what are they to us? And isn't the point to make them think they are more than just tricks?

    What should I buy?

Get some books. It'll be cheaper and you'll get more effects for the money. I would recommend the Art of Astonishment series available at dananddave.com. Daniel Madison's "Anthology" has a wealth of stuff that you'll be adapting and building off of for years. Chris Kenner's "Totally Out of...

    Angle Zero

Technically there is a gimmick but you make it and it's part of the trick... and... You know what? Just get any of his books or DVD's that include Angle Zero. You'll kick yourself in the head when you learn the method. That Daniel Madison is a clever ba$+@£d. It's sad he's left "magic" but I'm...

    The Impossible Penetration?

It all depends on how you hold your hands. This trick is great because you can make your own angles. You can mask the "move" by rotating your hands accordingly or doing it on an off beat.

    Fool Us. should we?

Read the introduction to the Art of Astonishment by Paul Harris. He seems to hit on what you're trying to achieve rather eloquently. I am currently at the point in my journey where I find that "Magic" can be very condescending to an adult audience. It demands that they suspend their belief...

Tricks & gaff deck, please HELP!

Search Dover Publishing and check put the books they have to offer on card magic. My first suggestion would be Royal Road to Card Magic. I think they sell it for around $10. That will teach you false cuts, shuffles and many other sleights that you can use and refine for yourself. The way the...

    Best Flourishing/XCM DVDs??

The Trilogy was the first thing I bought and it was tough but I didn't give up. With practice you can learn anything. I also own Lethal, Motion and Madness by Daniel Madison. His style is rather different from Dan and Dave but most of his flourishes utilize the same moves or variations of them...

recommend me some card magic books, but..

If you want stand-up card work (no table or surface work) then "Drawing Room Deceptions" is right up your ally. "By Forces Unseen" is another great book with tons of ideas to learn and build from. Hugard's "Card Manipulations" is great and available from Dover Publishing for cheap. Cheers!

The seven deadly sins of magic videos.

Here is where you're going into personal taste. I agree only with the first sentence "Pick music that fits." With that said the music should compliment the trick not overshadow it. Anything with lyrics tends to take part of the minds focus from the trick. Rarely do you have music where the...

In Need Of Some Durable Cards

The Tally's here are great and last me a while. I always have a deck on me for when my hands are idle. I also recommend the bicycle masters from Ellusionist. Both are reasonably priced and readily available.

Tally Ho in T11 are Black Seal or Red/Blue seal?

Black seal. I bought a mixed brick a little while ago and still haven't used them all yet. Even after I beat the crap out of them, have people with dirty hands handle them, drop them, spread them on dirty bar surfaces... They still fan like a dream. I just don't understand.

    S.O.S I need help!

I started both card magic and flourishing with the Trilogy and quickly realized I was in way over my head. I didn't give up however and can now perform rather well it just took a LOT of practice. One thing to remember is that the people you are learning from have been doing this for a long time...

15 and Wanting to Begin Restaurant Magic

Here's how I got my first job. I went to a local bar that I frequent and asked to talk to the manager. I told him I do magic and would like to come in once a week and just walk around and perform. I would start just working for tips (and maybe a free beer or two) then if the patrons liked it...

The right direction to learn this card trick?

Didn't watch the video but this could be achieved by using a pocket card index (Advocate) and a McMillan switch or another card switch.
