RDChopper? I'd like to set one thing straight in what ye posted: There were 9 muses in Greek mythology:
Calliope - Muse of epic song
Clio - Muse of history
Euterpe - Muse of lyric song
Melpomene - Muse of tragedy
Terpsichore - Muse of dance
Erato - Muse of erotic poetry
Polyhymnia - Muse of...
Silver and copper get cleaned insanely fast with a paste of flour, salt, lime juice and vinegar. That's how we at the kitchen (used to study/work at culinary arts) used to clean the copper cookware and silverware. Rub it, then rinse it, the use a soft cloth to dry.
So we do agree that the spectator actually percieves the place a card is within the deck and one should take it from there the control he/she does. Thanks a load!
Reading around, I stumbled upon quite an interesting statement. It was about different ways to control a card and what it provided (psychologically) to the spectator. More specifically about the classic pass and an overhand shuffle (but it can apply to several others), here'd be how it went: A...
Found Erdnase in Italian. S. W. Erdnase's "L'Esperto Al Tavolo Da Gioco" (1996) and several retailers:

I'm by no means someone to say this, but Aaron Fisher's 1-on-1 suggests: Card College, The Royal Road to Card Magic, Close-Up Card Magic, Supermagic, Card Magic of LePaul, Stars of Magic, Expert Card Technique and Expert at the Card Table.
Volume 2. ;)
I found the explanation within Erdnase to be superb. Butin Italian? I'm looking in the Card College series for I remember to have readthe languages it was translated to. I remember German, English, Spanish and not sure if any more.
EDIT - Also French, but that'd be it.
Royal Road to Card Magic is only about $10; whereas it's version on DVD costs, if I remember correctly, around $70. Card College ye can start off with Volume 1 only ($32); or start with the 1-on-1's suggested, which are quite cheap.
Looking around I stumbled across "Revelations" by Dai Vernon. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but this is S.W. Erdnase's Expert at the Card Table with the added annotations by Vernon. I was wondering; me being, not new to magic, but somewhat new to taking it seriously; which'd be better...
I enjoyed both ideas exposed just by Steerpike and Randy, for I, have me own motives to feel that those series are naught but an insult to the vampire lore and also I seriously dislike the way the books themselves are writ; but also see where yer post went towards, Faust. Sleight of hand...
I've to second what RDChopper said. Fantastic part that one. I am looking into the patter I'll use meself on the Biddle Trick and that wee bit I believe I'll steal from ye (hope ye don't mind). All in all, I liked the whole patter idea. I believe I can come up with one to suit me best, but it's...
I have found that putting the deck in a Porper clip AND inside and empty cigar box (I smoke cigars, so they are usually around, but the stores usually give them away for free or low cost) will not only flatten it gorgeously, but also absorb any extra moisture. That and wash yer hands often...
