A lot of magic in store up ahead

Hello forum friends. Last year, if anyone remembers, I attended a Thespian Conference in Memphis, TN, and did LOADS of magic there, about an hours worth of walk around stuff. Well, the conference is tomorrow and starts about midday Friday and all of Saturday, so I have plenty of potential here...

I got them at Vistaprint, and it was only 10$, my mistake.

How I fell in love with organic magic

I don't have five, but I do have stairway as well as symphony. I really enjoy stairway, and I'm working on void for restaurant stuff. I also really really like Dress code, as well as a rubberband routine I have; and pressure is great. That's all the organic ones I have down. I'm working on...

How I fell in love with organic magic

Scarecrow: I agree with the balance of SoH and gimmicks. After all, it does take some skill to pull of a gimmick, it can't do ALL the work for you; it just allows you to take magic beyond normal SoH. I like the addition you put of what laymen are thinking when you pull something non cards out...

In a bit of a pickle

Thanks so much Chin. Looking back at my order it was actually around 10 bucks, I guess I mistook those for a different purchase, whoops haha. Anyway, I like the ideas you have about using them to write on, but my address will still be there (unless I "test" the pen on the address, thus...

In a bit of a pickle

Thanks for all the replies guys, I've gotten several different suggestions. I'll look into that Out to Lunch effect, I know Rev posted it in another thread earlier. I still want to use them so I might just mark out the address. A bit unprofessional I know, but better than throwing away 30...

Haha well I know that, I just thought it was a colossal error. Thanks for easing my mind rev.

Interesting connection. Are you saying do all this prior to handing them out or make it an effect?

Saturday Night Contest - New Year's Resolutions

So I just remembered I'll be out of town this weekend without access to a computer most likely, so I won't be able to post anything about my goals. I'll try and write out my Dresscode idea, but if not, I'll still be working on my year long goal. Cheers everyone! Jacob

In a bit of a pickle

So I was reading a thread and came across a post Luis Vega said. "you should never...ever....put your address on a business card, unless it's an office where someone can come and see you." I ordered business cards a few weeks back and when they came in, I was so pumped about them...

Saturday Night Contest - New Year's Resolutions

This is a great idea! Goals: Week: Perfect Transit and Dress code, as well as find an original and hard hitting reveal for Dresscode. Year: Branch out of card magic and learn more organic stuff; then practice until performance ready, then of course, perform them. Execution: Week...

How I fell in love with organic magic

Thanks Mehar, I'm really glad you took something away from this. My message here isn't that we "must" use gimmicks; there are plenty of effects that use just SoH (or lack there of) to produce miracles as well. The point here is to not be afraid of gimmicks, because gimmicks still require skill...

How I fell in love with organic magic

Thats a good point Slade. It goes along with how difficult a sleight or effect is. In the end, the audience doesn't care how its done or how hard it is. They care about the end result, how you get there is typically irrelevant.

How I fell in love with organic magic

Thanks Justin, I'm glad you enjoyed it. And although impromptu always sounds better ("do this on the spot, anytime, anywhere!") That's only if, after you've left your house, someone springs something on you. You can do dress code pretty much anytime, anywhere, given that you prepare yourself...

How I fell in love with organic magic

At first I tried to avoid gimmicks; they seemed too much of a hassle to always carry around "just in case I get to perform." I didn't have a lot of time to perform on the streets, so school was my only other option, and not many opportunities came up. I got Panic by Aaron Fisher a few years...

t11 bulletin : ALCHEMY by Ben Seidman

Alright, and I know they won't lie, but there have been issues before on that subject, just taking precaution. Thanks :) Awesome, I'm not really a coin guy (if you couldn't tell haha) but if someone asks "can you do coin magic" I think this would a pretty sweet one to bust out. Plus it would be...

t11 bulletin : ALCHEMY by Ben Seidman

So if I am extremely ignorant on coin magic (other than a less than par french drop) will I still be able to do this effect without and prior knowledge? And also, is it really, truly, completely Impromptu and uses no gimmicks whatsoever? I'm not against gimmicks, but I don't like being told one...

    Dresscode

I agree, mine came in the mail today and it's amazing. I was a little thrown off with the "ruining" (if you want to call it that for making a miracle) of a shirt. But then again I have plenty of shirts I don't really wear or care about that finally have a use now. Pure genius. I have transit as...
