    Update on "booya!"

That won't always work and wouldn't exactly look professional on his part.

    # of Tricks for Walkaround?

3 effects ( 4 at the most) should be fine, The effects in my mind should also have something in common with each other. Either they build upon the other towards the finale "Reveal" or they share a common theme. This should roughly take around 4-5 min at the most and that's pretty much it.

Metronone practice. Who here does it?

Another idea I might try is Blindfold practice. Though they say you should only start doing that once you get used to the mechanics of the routine and everything, then you do it with a blindfold as to force you to get even more used to the muscle memory and not burn your own hands when you perform.

Congress Voting On The Stop Online Piracy Act

The main problem with it is that it stops creativity and it didn't give the "offending" websites a chance to defend themselves. Which is pretty stupid in itself. The other problem is that it would cause the Internet we have to becoming one step closers to china's. The other main problem is...

Metronone practice. Who here does it?

I was reading something about how practicing magic with a metronome tends to help make things go smooth and flow better. IE: it helps you learn how to avoid framing when you deal 2nd's, bottoms and when you palm. But it also helps you learn a natural movement AFTER the dirty work is done. Thus...

    Warped cards

Just put them in a porper clip, and porper clips are only 30 dollars (why are you opening 8 decks at a time though. The warps will flatten out with the porper clip and if you REALLY want to flatten them, get a card press.)

    Forgetting Tricks

Stick with learning and mastering 5-6 routines or effects for a year and then when you've got those down to the point where you can do them without thinking about it, then maybe start adding 2-3 more routines to the list while still working on the effects/routines that you have mastered.

    Editing Equipment

I just have one question? Why are you going to spend around 1k for a camera if you are just going to use it to vlog, do magic and cardistry? You can get a decent HD vlogging camera for around 150 bucks that will do the job just as well and it's not like the people who are going to be seeing your...

    Editing Equipment

Well if you are making video for Magic and Cardistry I don't think many people are going to care about how advanced the editing looks or not. You could just use Sony Vegas and it would be fine.

    Getting that gig?

I don't know if a hookah lounge would be the right place for a strolling performer and being there for 6 hours is way too much and would burn you out too quickly. I've heard stories of guys who tried to do that ended up felt like they ran a marathon afterwards. If you do try to do the 6 hour...

    Practicing the natural.

Yeah, I seem to recall David Williamson mentioning that when he was teaching the Top Change (which is something I'll get around to working on next week and seeing if I can try out that practice technique with it.)

    Practicing the natural.

The problem with trying to reinvent the way a move is done is that often times the reason the method for it as been around so long is because it's been worked by everybody and made practical. Whit haydn mentioned that you shouldn't try to reinvent the wheel till you have a good understanding of...

    Practicing the natural.

I wonder how many people still actually do this or use this idea. The idea is that you practice doing natural movements with cards/coins or whatever. IE: you would simply practice dribbling cards into your left hand, then making a gesture, then squaring up the pack. This whole process should...

what do u guys do when cards are warped...

You don't want to put them in the freezer, that will just screw them up even more. Try putting them under a few heavy books and if that doesn't work, then maybe it's time they end up being used for effects that destroy cards.

I need a strong, simple card tricks.

It's not hard to do, it IS however very hard to do it convincingly. Specially if you do it for friends and family.

    First gig, any tips?

Here's what you do, before you start asking "Who likes magic?". Just go up random people on the street, store, etc and say "Hi" to them to hello to them and try to maintain eye contact with them each time. You won't really have anything to lose and if somebody doesn't return the favor, then it's...

    TnR's

Just pick one or two and stick with those. You're not going to be performing for magicians and most laypeople aren't going to see or understand the difference between Torn, CH, Reform, Fourfit, etc etc. Here is what lay people see: "He took a card, tore into pieces and then put it back...

    TnR's

He still has CH listed for sale on his website, though he is kind of touring a bit and you probably wouldn't get it in the mail till around the 9th of January or so (that when his schedule says he'll be back home for a few days.).

"75% of performances are poor...." -- Fitzkee

Generally speaking people only see one maybe TWO magicians live in person in their entire life. Now maybe some people will see David Blaine or Criss Angel or Copperfeild, Penn and Teller perform on TV. When they see something live in front of them and the act if bad, it tends to flip a switch...

"75% of performances are poor...." -- Fitzkee

I don't think we'd help the art form by adding other forms of entertainment to it. It would most likely hurt it a bit more than help. Adding too many different things to any form of entertainment just confuses people. "What the hell does country music have to do with (insert magic effect...
