Are all dover magic books useful for beginners?

The Dover books you have are enough for now, learn what is in them before you worry about getting more. The Dover books are reprints of old books and are therefore less expensive than the newer more modern titles. What you have is a good start and contains a large amount of good information...

    Sleight of Hand VS Gimmicks

I agree with everything above and I think the correct answer is 'both'. However I appreciate the view of those who strive to see what they can do without gimmicks simply because they choose to. Strangely the sometimes seems to be backlash from either side!

    Folding Quarter Question

Also try a different bottle. I haven't tried plastic, but I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't quite as easy to use as glass.

I'm looking for some magic tricks. Do anyone have any suggestions?

I second the suggestion on rubber band magic as it works well as an instant download, though I would suggest getting some Elastraflex coated bands. Joe Rindfleisch's Rainbow Rubber Bands are what I have, but I imagine they are available without his branding. They won't matter for all effects...

Book Recommendations for Theory (not tricks and sleights)

Strong Magic by Darwin Ortiz Designing Miracles by Darwin Ortiz I found these 2 to be the most enjoyable and relevant to my magic. I also like Ascanio Magic of Ascanio Vol. 1 The Structural Conception of Magic Others will also suggest Tamariz, but I found the ones above more to my taste...

    Thumb fan help

I would think it should still be good but the best way tell for sure is to get a new deck and compare. Also, there are many old threads which contain discussions of how to deal with clumping. Also, cards such as Medallions/Monarchs, Aristocrat Banknotes, Antlers and Steamboats, while more...

    Chair Tests

It's called catch 23. You'd probably still learn things from it even if you already know the method. As he performed it at the time 5 people were brought on stage. Numbered envelopes were shown and each person was given the envelope with the number they chose. Inside each envelope was...

No, I've seen him perform it and teach it at a lecture.

    Chair Tests

I just know the Asi Wind version, but it is based on the Gary Kurtz one. I'd just go with that. It seems very direct and to the point.

    Al Baker self-cutting deck

I just watched that part again and he appears to show everything. Make sure you cut the deck in the right direction when you bury the card. The deck should both cut itself and move back without you doing anything differently. He just pauses between the two phases and then continues as before.

    Which deck is this?

To answer none of your questions, I have noticed that if you do 2 out anti-faros you end up with: 1st quarter: 6 of Diamonds All face cards 2nd quarter: A-3 Diamonds A-10 Hearts 3rd quarter: A-3 Spades A-10 Clubs 4th quarter: 4-10 Spades 4-T Diamonds (no 6) The cards...

    Rope Routines

Bonus tip: If you are going to be reusing a piece of rope, mix some white glue with water and paint some onto the ends of the rope. It will prevent fraying. And I have those scissors, I second Al e Cat Dabra they are awesome!
