    The DL Get Ready

It is important to have an undetected get ready, presuming you`re using a GR. The spectator shouldn`t be able to link the action of a get ready (visible or not) to the actual lift/turnover. A spectator can feel if something has been done that doesn`t feel right. So it isn`t at all important if...

Original way of controling the card

The idea of bending cards (concave or convex)isn`t new or original. Something similar has been published by Howard Albright (Albright`s Advanced Card Magic) in 1948 and you can also find it in EATCT (crimping part of the deck) and in Arthur Buckley`s Card Control (1946). In Harry Lorayne`s...

Are you excited for the release of?

How can I be exited about something that happens several times every week nowadays ? (The "curse" of Kickstarter & co)? New deck of cards...exiting... not really.. I´m tired of these card threads. The last thing I was really exited about was a workshop with Michael Ammar two years ago and the...

    Map of greater magicians!

That`s because it`s just a map of greater magicians, not the greatest ;) Seriously, interesting map. I know 99% of the names, but I don`t always agree with the categorization.

A Curious Consideration on Color Changes

I think the most important thing of a good color change isn`t the change itself, nor is it the highest contrast between two cards. It`s the proper buildup, what comes before the visual moment. The CS in itself is just an eye candy and has no lasting mysterious feeling without context. I like...

    Card Shark by Darwin Ortiz

I wouldn`t spend so much money. Darwin said that he`ll probably reprint CardShark, as he did with "Scams&Fantasies with Cards". Oh and btw, don`t hesitate to get his latest book "Lessons in Card Mastery". It`s absolutely fantastic. Best Card Magic book I´ve read in a long time. Some say it`s...

    Cards for table work?

For table work just make sure the cards you`re using are traditionally cut. That makes table riffle shuffles and table faros easier.

Which magician has the best patter?

Definitely Teller . He has the best patter ever xD No, seriously. Don`t know which has the best, that`s personal taste. I like Bill Malone, David Williamson, and Juan Tamariz(in Spanish).

    Five points

Juans books are generally excellent in crediting and referencing. He`s not only an incredible magician, he also has a broad knowledge of the history of magic. His bibliography in Mnemonica is one of the most extensive treatise of the Memorized deck I know. "Five Points in Magic" is a must-have.

    Is theory11 honest?

There is. Although my first experience with the Kentucky bikes were very bad. The brick I`ve got felt like sandpaper, the edges were extremely fuzzy as if they had massive problems with their glue, they changed the size of the pips for experience purposes and the cut wasn`t consistent (some...

Is Magic an Art? Thread #459

I agree I don`t understand why it is important for some magicians that magic is regarded as an art form. Instead they should rather concentrate on mastering the craft. I like what Ortiz said about that in Designing Miracles:

    Magic performed with beer?

Pfffft. You should see my signature effect with beer. I can vanish any amount of beer in a glass in no time (my ABIAG (any beer in any glass)). Forever. Haven`t yet worked out how to reappear the beer. But I´m working on it ;)

    after RRTCM...

Classic Collection 1 is not a bad choice. It contains some really good stuff which is, technically, easy to do. For other strong effects, most in the reach of the intermediate magician: - "A book in English"(Woody Aragon) - "Dear Mr.Fantasy"(John Bannon) - "52 Memories"(Jack Parker) - "One...

    John Bannon's Smoke & Mirrors

I know a shop here in Germany where you can buy some copies of the latest reprint. http://www.zauberzentrale.de/shop/Literatur+%3Cbr%3Eenglischsprachig/Smoke+and+Mirrors+v.+John+Bannon.html I don`t own the book (too much books, not enough time to study them all), although I´m a big Bannon fan.

    Erdnase change and laymen

If you do it correctly, no layman will notice. Don`t let them suspect it, don`t overuse it in your routine. There are serveral fine points that will make the EC better. I`ve seen someone doing it in a way that looks absolutely incredible/convincing (can`t remember his name, sorry), even for the...

    Mnemonica Stack Setup

In the book are enough methods to get into the stack from NDO (for all skill levels). Why not just read it ? If you really own the book, you wouldn`t ask. It is clearly described in the book and it would be unethical and exposure to tell you.
