Saturday Night Contest - Fool Us!

Nice work Patrick! I would be curious to know if anyone knows how I did my coin vanish - it was very unorthodox. If anyone want's to take a shot, pm me. I'm curious. ;)

Here's a simple coin vanish. Hopefully it hasn't been done before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPktWqA7IyI

Hey nice releases guys! The metallic bikes are very nice. Red stingers are pretty slick too. Great stuff.

    "Magician"

They think "Justin Morris". Well, that's the goal.

Instant Radio - What's the point?

That's exactly my point. People like it, so they perform it.

    Talent Show Magic

Hey man nice job. Too bad the sound was so quiet. I don't know if you want feedback on the show, or if you were just sharing, but I would say that one thing to really try to keep in mind, are the transitions between effects/routines. It's hard when your mic isn't working, but effective, thought...

Instant Radio - What's the point?

Unless we are performing for magicians or just ourselves, we often need to put our opinions aside (while still maintaining your own style) and strive to find what our audiences like, enjoy, and find exciting. It's about them at the end of the day. Miser's dream is not a classic just because...

Peter Eggink's Cased - and why I think it's rubbish

Wow, this turned into quite the "discussion". Too bad it wasn't all about the effect. I think RDC summarised the point well "He is talking about structure, and how this trick fails at being either a solid foundation for a routine or a really powerful one for a closer." I think I would still...

Peter Eggink's Cased - and why I think it's rubbish

Great thoughts, and a great perspective. I would say, in the context of a longer show, it could fit as an end to your card sequence as much as Sudden Deck could be used to open your card segment. But It could never be used as a show/set closer. It could be used as a quick 'stunt' that you do...

    What Kind of Bend?

I find not using a deck for a while it will straighten out by itself after a few weeks. So its good to have a few on hand. Ive never tried this, but someone once posted that putting them in the freezer helps. Worth a shot.

    Interlace by Richard Sanders

It provides you with the gimmick, and teaches you how to set up. Fantastic effect.

Deflecting Thoughts and False Memories. Essay #10 by JDG

Fantastic advice Jamie. I especially like the bit about planting the false memory. It is very easy to ask questions about them, as people love to talk about themselves.

    Topit

A tailor is the way to go, unless you know someone who has done that sort of sewing. It's fairly easy to do, but does require some knowledge.

    "Fake exposure"

Ha ha, that's wicked. I sometimes feel bad because of all the hate mail I get from Magicians who say I'm ruining the art. Well, I'm glad the idea helped someone! Welcome to the forums!

Whats your go to effect, when put on the spot?

Stigmata is stellar. I've used the business card version to close corporate shows. Even if someone figures out how the marks are made, that's not entirely the effect on the crowd.

    Do you Crack your Knuckles?

I've been cracking my knuckles since I was a young teenager, and I wouldn't say I'm the most dexterous person, but I also haven't noticed any big changes in dexterity from then to now (I'm 29 now). However, it's probably a good habit to drop, as it is potentially harmful (according to rumor)...
