    Curtain Call

Working a gig is a fun. You show up, you do your thing, you collect your stuff, and you go home. Just another day at the office really. So if doing a one night gig is just another day at the office then being part of a production is a lot like summer camp. You've spent so much time and...

Are you excited for the release of?

Not really. I don't get worked up over specific effects or decks of cards in the same way I do about movies, shows, or theater productions. I don't subscribe to the trick of the week mentality and I know I won't ever be able to use half the stuff on the market for one reason or another...

    One Trick Decks

What a fool. Who said that about trick decks? Two of my favorite trick decks are the mental photography deck, and the invisible deck. And say what you will but you will never beat a Svengalli deck when it comes to doing a card stab. Very clean, no sleight involved.

    Kickstarter deck ideas?

My advice would be to take a xanix and lock yourself in a closet until the urge passes.

    Lost and Gone

Dear Forums, There are only two things that can happen to a creative individual that can absolutely devastate it. Loss of identity, and Loss of personal voice. Without them you are unable to create, unable to entertain, and perhaps worse off unable to remain true to your creative self...

    I hate "normal" things

It's been said by far wiser people than me: "If you want to improve your act, watch others perform." It's true; it works. Professional sports teams watch video clips of their rivals games, so why shouldn't we watch others work? I spend a lot of time doing just that. Either in person or...

    Rebel playing cards secret?

Weird... mine never did that. Maybe you just got a misprinted deck? Manufacturing error?

post your 2 fav decks here! spread the word

Franco Just go to the Magic Apple on Ventura and Tjunga (I think I spelled that correctly) a bout 3 blocks away from Universal Studios. You'll find plenty of good custom decks in there. Most of them have a demo deck open so you can see and feel the cards.

    Amateurs and Professionals

It's an interesting read for sure but I think magic may be the exception to the rule. I think that amateurs stand to hurt the professional more so than the other ones out there, if for nothing else than the exposure. If some hack goes and puts a youtube video of him doing Thread up on the net...

    Counterfeit Sentinels? (Large Photo)

I'd want Bayme to enter in his opinion on this one before we go writing this off as being a printing update. There are slight differences in the font and text on the two decks. If you were going to sell a knock off, it's the little things like that you'd change. I'm on the fence on this one.

    Working in a haunted house?

You'll want to start approaching houses around March if you want to work them this year. Most places are done planning by the mid to end of July. Asking them for a brighter performance space can work against you depending on how early in their planning stages you get them to book you. IF...

    Kristofferson Cardistry

Not bad at all! The music selection doesn't distract from, or over power the action being presented. I enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing!

As a 14 year old, where can you start doing shows?

Busking isn't easy. It's tough as nails, and you've got to have some thick skin to be able to do it. However doing street shows is kind of like the magic equivalent of military boot camp. IF you can survive it, and make it work for you then the things you learn will only make you an amazing...

    mentalism-think on a card

Use a stooge. Tell them to think of the Ace of Spades. Go out in public "meet them for the first time" ask them to think of a card. Wallah! Instant miracle.

    Any opinion?

Well other magicians say what you will about it I love the Ambitious Card Routine. It's my ever ready go-to for when I need to do something magical on the spot. Shadow Matrix has always been a favorite close up effect of mine. I can't perform it but I love watching it done. John B. Born...

    Any opinion?

Ellusionist has some good DVD's out there for doing street magic like the Ninja series, Card Klub, and Street Magic. Jay Sankey has a lot of DVD's ...well just about all of his DVD's are suitable for street, Gregory Wilson has some good stuff too like Freakey. Also look into Royal Road to Card...
