Just a small correction. Gypsy Thread can be done very well on stage, in fact, I saw a magician who used it to close his stage act. And it killed. It's all about the presentation though.

Because they are a lot more safe than strike DL. If your hands are burned, and you are nervous a little bit, you will mess up your strike, you will hit 3,4 cards, or just the top one. If you have a break already, than it is "guaranteed" to hit two cards only.

The best way IMHO to do the pass is to spread the card from hand to hand, not dribble, and when they return their card in the middle of the deck, you close the spread but let it be a little "messy". And then in the action of squaring up the cards, you do the pass. It will be a lot more invisible...
