I know the method it is a classic of mentalism.

    Trying Out Mentalism

WOW that performance was flat. Most people who perform mentalism give it some form of process. Either psychological (Derren Brown) or something more mystic (Bob Cassidy or Max Maven). Even claiming genuine psychic abilities like Uri Gellar. Actually Uri has one of the best 'processes' in...

    Presentational Ideas #2

In this situation I would not tip the method, as you have spent so much time to make it into a full effect. Maybe at a later date but defiantly not on the same day.

    Question on a serious matter...

I am with everyone else it is a little disrespectful. If you want to cheer people just talk to them and remember the good times. However you said you did not know her that well so I would not use this approach with her close friends. Anyway RIP

    Peek Wallet Justification

This is a very interesting issue that divides a lot of people. On one hand Dee mentioned that saying peek should be a non event in the audiences eyes. On the other many will say that by mentioning 'so I cannot see it' or anything of that nature could give the audience something to hang...

    Theatrics | Article

Interesting post Mikk. I have discussed this before with many people but I will give it a little more of a public domain. When I talk about the greatest performance I have ever seen (either live or on TV/youtube etc.) it has to be Derren's take on the "Which Hand Game" from Comic Aid...

Does Anyone Recommend Any Luke Jermay Books For Me?

I don't want to sound rude but weren't you thinking about 13 Steps recently in an EI thread if I am not mistake. I think most of his material is a little advanced at the moment. In almost all of his books he will assume you have a fairly high understanding of mentalism.

    Presentational Ideas #2

Most people will say no. However I feel that this can be a very powerful moment as you are giving them something. It takes away from the I am so much better than you image of a magician. This will also help with them taking something away that they can show their friends. The biggest idea is...

    Peek Wallet Justification

The magnum looks like it uses the same peek as the anther which is different to HideOut. I may have to look into this one aswell.

    Peek Wallet Justification

I don't own the Magnum but the Hideout looks and feels like any normal wallet. I occasionally use it as my everyday wallet if I am feeling lazy and not changing it back after a performance.

    Peek Wallet Justification

I use the Hideout from Outlaw. It is a beast because the peek happens without reopening the wallet. Actually you can get it as you are closing the wallet. The justification that I use is to isolate the piece of information so there is noway I can get to it.

    "Show Me Something Then"

I agree with Prae simple go straight to your current set pieces. However if someone asks me to do something with cards I will usually go into a three phase mind reading routine. However I usually try to stay away from cards especially if it is an impromptu thrown into the deep end type...

    Mentalist Effect // Blindsight

Sounds like a nice effect. I have been a huge fan of using colour in mentalism. Is there something beautiful about colour and psychology.

    ParaNormal DVD - Intro Feedback

I liked it very well edited. The only real criticism I have is that you need to have varied audience types both in size and demographic. All the performance and post performance I saw was for small groups and all under the age of 24 (guess). Just aside the main thing I am concerned about is...

    Where to go from here?

I would recommend Art of Magic over the other ones that you have mentioned. Not because of the effects that it contains but because of the interviews and discussions of what magic is and how it should be presented. I mean there are 100 ways to vanish a cigarette but the best is still a TT...

    "Pick a Card"

I understand what you are getting at. Essentially we are trying to figure out their card, and do so in a interesting way. Whilst there may in-fact be limitless ways to achieve this there are only a few basic principles. A few that you neglected were controlling the card to known position...

    Jazz Aces :: Peter Kane

Jo Vision I appreciate your mathematics, however, I feel that the if we were to use the notion of 3*(epic fail) the implied nature is that he failed on three separate occasions. Whilst this is true the failure is still centralised around a common value fail in this instance. If we were to take...
