    Bicycle colored Jokers?

I believe they have been in the decks for about two months now. I found my first one back in the beginning of June. It definitely adds a little "flavor" to the Joker.

    Funny Gig Stories...Let's Hear Em'

Lyle...that is a good one. I bet you had a sick feeling in your stomach when you walked in and saw the youngsters instead of the teens....wow. Rich, did you seriously puke over the boat in front of the audience....or did you at least make it far enough away?

    Abbott's 74th Magic Get-together!

I made my first Abbott's trip last year. It was outstanding. We visited the Graveyard and also visited the museum about an hour away. You also will want to hit Bill's steakhouse. Mmmmmmmm.....

    Funny Gig Stories...Let's Hear Em'

Most of us whether beginners or professionals have had some gigs where some crazy stuff has happened. I'll start. First magic show I ever performed at a child's birthday party. I arrive to the home in my suit and have all of my props ready to roll. I'm already a nervous wreck and it is hot...

Acta Deceptio: When Were You Last Fooled?

Either there are way too many people on these forums who are afraid to admit being fooled by something or nobody on here attends magic shows / conventions and only watches youtube performers. Come on guys seriously? Nobody is going to make fun of you. I actually like being fooled now days...

    Card counting?

Counting Cards also depends on how many decks are in the shoe (4 or 6) or if it is just one deck. There could be up to 5 people sitting at the table. Also keep in mind is everyone playing correctly? Are they hitting on 16's...consistently....things like that can throw off some things at the...

Jack of all trades, or a master of one?

Good point David. Until I've built up the reputation as one of the best close up workers in my area...then just keep everything until I need to start shedding some.

    Some live magic for ya

Jacob, thank you for sharing the video. One major thing I see is both of you seem to be performing magic AT (instead of with) the spectators and also at a very rapid pace. SLOOOOOWWWWWW down so people can let things sink in. There is no hurry.

What got you started in magic?

It was probably 12 years ago when my family took at trip to Myrtle Beach and I saw my first close up magician at Broadway on the Beach and then Conley's House of Magic down there. It was a simple Thumb Tip and Hank vanish that had me picking my jaw up off the floor. Needless to say I was bitten...

    Card counting?

This may start you off. http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/mit-blackjack-card-counting-secrets-w-andy-bloch Keep in mind though that the movie made it very dramatic and seem like super powers...ha ha.

Acta Deceptio: When Were You Last Fooled?

Penn and Teller's opening phone effect with the borrowed iphone. I was sitting in my seat...saying "No F-ing Way". I don't want to describe it because it will ruin it for people who may go see the show but let's just say it is great.

Jack of all trades, or a master of one?

I am in this exact boat right now. I currently do the following: 1.) kids birthday entertainment 2.) adult close up magic at wedding receptions, etc. 3.) balloon sculpting at festivals and such I get a decent amount of gigs because I can do all of the above but I have often wondered if I...

Learn to do the sleight or move to perfection, then spend hours on what to say.

Thanks for your insight as well David. Well said.

    I need some help.

Blake, I guess I should have asked you because a lot of guys don't know what an Abbott's Jet Set is. It is a very nice fold up back drop frame. The curtain does not come with it but you can purchase them separate or have someone make you the curtain from your own choice of fabric. They come in...

Small little video I made on my MacBook

The bill switch was your typical bill switch. If you want to take it up a notch...look at Foreign Affair and add some humorous patter. The king to aces was just so so for me. Nothing overly exciting but I really liked the ace production at the conclusion. Good work.

    I need some help.

Do you own a Jet Set or Lefler Table? Both of these would be good purchases that would help you out later on down the road once you have a show and start making money.

Mobile Magic Shop on Wheels -- Anyone seen this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1uSVynJBNs&feature=related In our local club newsletter I found this link to a Mobile Magic shop that tours around selling to different events / IBM rings. It is coming to our club meeting in September. I thought it was very interesting. Has anyone seen this or...

Has this effect been created yet?

Yes...Shane's Pandora system will do exactly that. Well worth it and doesn't require too much work.

Influencing a new magician: a neat story

Nice Justin, I get to see this first hand as well because I am a teacher. I have two former students that now do balloon twisting for money and they are only in 6th and 7th grade and I have another child or does magic and is just starting to charge for shows. She also does missionary work /...
