Why five at a time? It's quicker to show the whole deck. (I know why you have to take five cards, but I'm asking you to think about your magic. Magic that has no plot, unnecessary moves, or unjustifiable moves - 'fluff' is crap magic.)

I'm agreed with Jupiter. The Alex Elmsley books won't be suitable for beginners. If you're new to magic, there are definitely better books to check out, including Royal Road, Card College, Tarbell, Mark Wilson and Joshua Jay's Complete Courses in magic, to name a few. Collected Works are great...

I'm wondering how many people who've given advice here have actually professionally performed a gambling demo. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but it seems to me that you should take advice here with a discerning eye, and find some experienced magicians.
