I don't have AoM however something that you may find helpful is that paper has a grain much like wood. If you tear with the grain it should be a lot easier than by going against it.

Derren does not directly say he uses NLP he mentions things that he looks for that are similar or the same as NLP. He also talks about an interest in it but talks about its effectiveness is quite limited.

I was talking about the Impromptu one however the Stage one could also be done one on one. However it suffers one of the two biggest flaws that are present in almost all ACAAN or CAAN effects. The 'fantasy impromptu' however does not.
