    Who is better?

I prefer David Williamson but it comes down to personal preferance.

    Getting Started in Mentalism

I cannot agree more. When I started mentalism I was still doing magic at this time and everything that I was doing came across as just more tricks. You really have adopt a completely different outlook on presentation. That is why fundamentals is so good because it gives you a frame that you...

Trick from Something Wicked this way comes

OK the I just watched it (for the first time [I know I am late]) the method is exactly the same as the Max Maven effect except for the last reveal where he has the two people. That seems to be the real work on reading tells for as far as I can tell.

    Your Personal Gem

It very much comes down to what situation I am in to decide on what 'gem' I will use. If someone hands me a deck of cards and asks to see something I will usually use something like Just a Thought from Mark Spelmann. However if I have been working with someone for a while I will use one of...

    Getting Started in Mentalism

The I agree whole heartadly with what has been said about fundmentals and 13 steps. Another really nice book is The Artful Mentalism of Bob Cassidy.

    Drawing Duplication

Looch's influencer is an amazing twist on the D.D. Spelmann's Transmission is quite amazing with a multiple DD. If you want something that is a real time try something like Osterlind's O.D.D.S. However far and away the best DD for and situation is Sneak Thief, because it builds with a logical...

Trick from Something Wicked this way comes

Max Maven has a very nice impromptu version called Kurotsuke on his Video Mind dvd's on volume one. Marc Spelmann has a nice impromptu looking change bag which can be found on either 101108 or the Chapters of Mark Spelmann. Personally I love Max Maven's as it is about as pure as you can get.

    Mystique, Andthensome, or Devil's Picturebook

praetoritevong is dead on with what he said Devil's Picture book is far and away the best of the three however it is probably not what you will expect. So my recommendation is Mystique

Ever spent months on something the audience never sees?

I have whole shows worth of routines that have never seen the light of day even to close friends. Occasionally I work some of them into my shows but there are some I like the premise but cannot get a workable method to achieve it.

What do you answer when somebody asks: How do you do that?

My opinion has changed so much on this topic. Originally when I was doing primarily magic I would steal the Greg Wilson line 'very well.' However now days I want people the know how I do an effect. Well not the method but the false explanation that I spoon feed them. Things like...

    ANATE: Dee Christopher

Effect Based on Kenton's Kollosal Killer, this is a thought of card in wallet. This method however slims it down to fit inside any normal wallet or envelope. A Spectator is told that you have a card in your wallet - they are asked to name a number for the value of the card, then they are asked...

    Who performs Indecent?

No I don't and the reason is that it does not suit my performance style anymore. Most (ok almost all laymen) don't spend all day looking at youtube. Especially to see a terrible webcam only performance, generally they have better things to do.

    Jumbo Cards

Ineski had an amazing manipulation routine that ended with a fan of jumbo cards. Any of the four million out of this worlds. Work well for a stage type piece. In theory you could do anything with them although sleights would be a lot harder. Or you could just train a cat to do a card...

    Hmm...

I usually tell them the truth. That I read it in a book and decided to put my own spin on it. What is worse is when someone says they learn what I did on youtube, and they know about about double lift yet have no idea about about a top change or KM move. (they are life savers for the...

Totally Out of Control DVD - what happened?

I remember reading a post that Chris was not happy with some of the footage and/or was too busy with the Copperfield tour and they have not yet got a completed product.

    Muscle Reading Books

Ok now I get where he is coming from. What I was trying to say was using it as a practice in performance type piece because you really cannot practice it. Using something that you have an out for as you are just starting out.

    Muscle Reading Books

What I was trying to get across was it is not something you can just practice. you really need to practice by doing. That card piece is something I do and to the point where I can do it almost perfectly now.

    Muscle Reading Books

The advice about pretending to muscle read is actually quite good. Banachek mentions it as it is a great way to learn without the risk of failure. However you cannot be influenced by knowing the result and that is the hardest part. Anyway here is a suggestion; Force / peek a card then turn...
