    A $1000 Dollar Routine

Well actually, now that you come to mention it... Space paintings 'spray art' instructional dvd trilogy

    Soooooo Frustrating

Actually, he says 'a new colour change that you learned', which means something entirely different to 'a newly learned colour change'. Yes, you have a right to, fair enough. But did you need to? Really, was there anything to be gained by telling him that you didn't care? Surely you could...

    The most effective color change...

You beat me to it. It's angle proof (assuming someone isn't directly beneath you looking at the card as you remove it from the deck. It can happen in your hands or the spectator's, and can happen whenever you want. What more would you want? The top change is also good. The only advantage is...

    Lots o' Tricks

Nope, this one was originally performed by Jesus, who was close friends with God. Sadly, Jesus never released his method; it is rumoured that he was midway through filming a dvd when he died (an unfortunate accident involving some very extreme hecklers). To the OP: I'd recommend going through...

    The Superman Challenge

First thoughts for X ray was the classic X ray card trick. Or maybe a russian roulette, such as Instinct or Cookie Cutter. It would make more sense to do a nail under a cup than a razor blade in Oreo, though I think.

    Complete List of Reviews

Hey Sean, I just realized that I never got round to thanking you for this thread. Of course, as soon as I realized this, I ran outside and buried my head in a pile of dodo dung whilst chanting ABBA's greatest hits from memory, as a form of punishment. Anyway, here we go: Sean, thanks for this...

Two books that I love to read.

One book that I love to read time and time again, and would happily recommend to everybody, is Derren Brown's book Tricks of the Mind. In terms of actual magic tricks, it only features two, and you'll probably know them both. What it does teach you, however, is how to make these tricks miracles...

original effect. new concept towards the sandwich effect. i think.

I am well aware of this. I wasn't talking about making new versions of old effects, I was talking about presentation. About why YOUR performances are better than everyone else's. And it's not because you can make a folded up card jump between two sets of aces. It's because you make a trick worth...

original effect. new concept towards the sandwich effect. i think.

I think people should stop trying to make new effects and start trying to make the old effects new. I don't care if you can make a folded up elephant appear between the two red aces. Most people would still just film this on a blurry webcam pointed at their groin to the sound of some equally...

    No More Top Hats

Hmm. The idea's there, but to be honest I'm not at all big on this. There's way too much cover for such a little object. Hiding a small object in a big object just isn't impressive to me. "We'll drop this completely ordinary needle into this borrowed haystack, and marvel as you fail to find...

What do YOU feel when performing?

You forgot to turn off your electric touch. I don't really feel anything, as such at the beginning. I'm usually running over the method in my mind as I approach people. Then, assuming all goes well, I start getting an excitement rush and a big feeling of confidence. By the time I've finished...

Old move that we do not use!

I have been known on occasion to use the Erdnase Four Card Switch, which I love. Very much. I don't do too many four of a kind tricks any more though, so I have no use for it currently. But how about the palm? That's an old move people still use regularly to devastating effect. Edit: Oh, and...

    Criss Angel : The Accident

Well put. Nobody here is a proper magician, because you don't really do magic. You lie. Their card didn't really jump to the top magically, it's just because of that Marlo tilt you did. So really, you're all as bad as Criss Angel, by deceiving laymen and lying. Does it matter whether it's...

Dan and Dave - Skill and Teaching

I just don't understand how somebody can possibly say "This is the Hugh Scott shuffle. It was invented by Hugh Scott, a magician from Scotland." and still keep a completely straight face. Maybe it's just practice for whilst they're playing poker. As if they couldn't win anyway...

    DL as control

If you need to do fancy or 'impossible' doubles to prove to your spectator that there's only one card, you're doing something wrong. Try putting less emphasis on the turning of the card, and more on the card itself. Turning a card over should not be a complex or even remotely fishy action...

    going against my promise :-/

To be honest, that's why I liked it. If you could actually change a card into another card, why would you do it near the deck, when it clearly seems more impossible to do it away? I thought that this one was good. The second one was a bit messy and fishy and, whilst it could be nice with...

Brainstorm - 1 Year in the making...

I'm sorry, but anybody who says that the leaf is just a cheap substitute for paper, surely that would also apply to, say, Stigmata? Same thing really; a reveal appears written in an impossible place in an impossible way. So can we all try to be a little more positive?
