Any book/pdf/dvd similar to "pure effects"

Mat, perhaps you could help me with this. What's the idea behind the Six Hour Memorized Deck? (I mean, not, the method or the stack, but why is it special?) I took a look at the page for the Six Hour Memorized Deck, and it seems that its main selling point is based on simplicity and ease of...

    Cheating Buying

That's like saying, since the quality of pizza has gone down, you should take it home and eat it before paying.

    Voting Open: Freestyle

You're not listening. It really doesn't matter how much you practice. The fact is that your videos are below par. That's it. If you practice a lot that's great; that just means that maybe you should wait a bit longer until you perform stuff or make videos of it. I'm a mentalist; I may practice...

If you're not performing magic, then why are you in magic?

    Audience Lures

A really easy thing to do when you first set up is simply to bring two friends along. Show them something, and more people will inevitably follow to see what they're looking at.

Do you label yourself a magician?

Absolutely I do. Amd again, you're right - whatever preconceived notions may arise, doesn't mean that we have to follow them.

    Books!

Thirded. Great combination of books. You need more than tricks to be a magician. Or at least, a good magician.

    Question about Smoke & Mirrors

I also vaguely remember it being mentioned on dananddave that there would be a new production in the somewhat near future.

    Pumping the crowd up

I simply talk to the people I'm performing to before I start. And during the effect, it's the normal routine structuring with tension, etc. But mostly, it's quite simply just talking to them, not as a magician but as a person.

    Sitting down next to someone...

Being a mentalist, if it had to be with a deck of cards I would perform something that preferably didn't have to involve the deck - perhaps just one card.

Do you label yourself a magician?

Derren who? I have a hard enough time finding laymen who know who Derren Brown is. Of course, you're in the UK from your profile, so it's a very different matter. It is however true that the show The Mentalist has raised the profile of the term slightly. And Romeo, I do not doubt what you say...

Do you label yourself a magician?

The problem that I've encountered using the term mentalist, which I am more than happy to call myself, is simply this: that I have yet to meet a single layman who has even heard of the term. In terms simply of practicality, the best way I can describe it hence is to call myself a magician...

    Good book?

    One Card Change - Help

I like Blood and it has a lot of applications as a marking system. It's not easy to see unless you specifically look for marks (ie riffle down the side of the deck to look for discrepancies). As far as switches go, there are far too many to name. The simplest and cleanest would simply be to top...

    Never been fooled so badly...

I wonder why people think that the only method to perform it exactly that of Berglas', the implication being that it is impossible to have freely come up with another method (or, indeed, to have performed the effect without in fact having learned it from Berglas). Certainly it was made popular...
