    Problem with the cardistry community...

I sympathise with your point of view and have thought the same in the past. But show me a video of a popular flourisher with a badly executed but well received video, and we can progress further. As Steerpike said - names, or in this case, videos.

    [ANATE]-Dee Christopher

It's certainly very interesting. Especially in this case, I'm sure that it would indeed work more often with spectators who have been educated and indeed are used to living in a way that would benefit Anate greatly. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it were the case. I would draw parallels to...

    Never been fooled so badly...

That part of my post was directed at Dylan P. However, I did raise a question for you.

    Suggestions for openers?

Kieran - the effect you refer to in your second paragraph is actually called the Chicago Opener.

    Magic as a Hobby

magicfreak, you have to distinguish between a person who is a professional and a person who exhibits professional behaviour. A magician may be a professional magician but act in an unprofessional manner. On the other hand, an amateur magician may act far more professionally than a professional...

    Best card prediction out there?

The effect is called "At the Doors of Perception". No dance, doors plural, and perception rather than deception. But the description of the effect is accurate, and it is a good one. @ jtmorris, I vary between several, though only one per routine. Though I have a fondness for psychological...

    Never been fooled so badly...

You're correct; the ACAAN premise is often referred to as the Berglas Effect after David Berglas who arguably has made the most impact on the effect with his now well known performance.

    Best card prediction out there?

I perform exclusively as a mentalist at gigs, so I find that it works for me personally. But it's definitely true. I try not to be classed as a card technician. Anyway, that was just because jtm mentioned it, to clarify.

    Never been fooled so badly...

Thank you. I've been thinking about changing it to something else you'd also like. As far as where you can learn it... Buh Buh. Wrong question. There are many places you can learn ACAAN effects from. But you'll have to focus on developing your own ACAAN for the effect described. Look around...

    Famous Card Trick ?

If you really want to perform the most powerful magic available... You have to do it yourself. You have to start at the basics, go through the effect, practice it, perform it, go through the variations of the effect, create a presentation based around yourself and your persona as an...

    Critique My Pass

Catching him is not the point. A spectator doesn't have to catch him, to ruin an effect.

    Best card prediction out there?

jtmorris, the Derren Brown effect you are thinking of would be either Invisible Deal or Invisible Deal Force, both are good.

    Never been fooled so badly...

As I mentioned in a previous thread, this is something I performed just over this past weekend, and is amongst my three favourite effects. It's interesting actually, I find that for this effect, magicians try and deconstruct it far more than spectators. Don't get me wrong, spectators get fried...

Got a question about the Trilogy and also andthensome

Well, if I take your word and trust that you've learned those things, Trilogy should be within your grasp. Of course, like anything, it will take practice, and some sleights are definitely harder than others, but it should be fine.

    White Centurions

I would be really interested in an experiment: I'd like to carry out a blind product testing, as mentioned above. I've always wondered if those who swear by certain decks over others could actually tell the difference between different types of decks.

A Suggestion for All Those Wanting to Learn Suggestion.

He was relating suggestion to equivoque with the perspective that they are, both of them, best used as tools to enhance an effect, contrary to common misconceptions about the former.

    Voting Open: Freestyle

There is no substitute for mediocrity, eh? Learn to accept criticism XCM. RD can be harsh, yes, but it's because you've been given advice and you're not following it, and as a result, your video is simply not very good. If you've been practicing a lot, then maybe you need to find other ways to...

Funny you mention that. I performed exactly that two nights ago - it's one of my three favourite effects.
