    Addicted

I have to say that I buy cards often, not everytime, but when I see something different that looks good I'll buy in hopes of some quality...usually not so good... I want to say I have 50+ decks, that's in the last few months, I am glad that I use a lot of different ones for different effects...

    V Switch

yup. also good for and in the hand transposition reveal...i dont know how to justify turning the card to be transformed into with another card, but spectators dont generally ask those sorts of questions.

    Card Through Table

i think breach will be taught on dangerous it's also in his identity notes (how to make the gimmick is included) I wonder if Dangerous is shipping the breach gimmick or if the DVD is just teaching it. i do an impromptu card through table-not a visual through glass....but it gets the job...

    What is a purist?

I've read most of this topic. Thought a lot about it since I first saw it posted many hours ago. I actually put it in the lot with the however many other Cerca Trova ideas. I still don't know how I would define a purist, but have an idea or two and have decided to throw in two cents worth...

    Cerca Trova Ideas

After seeing a post in the general discussion I think a Cerca Trova should deal with the term 'purist'. What is a purist? Is it someone who doesn't use gimmicks at all? Is it a state of mind, an approach to magic? Is it an ego-driven approach? Though harder, is it better to be able to do...

Houdini and Spiritualism, need some help

I dont know when your paper is due. I have the book 'The Secret Life of Houdini' and one thing that stuck out to me was his failures actually boosted his career. Two examples being: He was doing a challenge escape from handcuffs-that ended up being plugged so they were impossible to open...

    Will you give me advice?

NickSkye pretty much said it all. the mechanics are good-but the flow is off. I'm in the same boat as of right now, can do the moves...just havn't gotten smooth with anything yet... oh well...practice til your hands hurt, shake 'em out and then practice some more.

    Best tools for beginners?

Royal Road to Card magic is also good starting point. and I second The Expert at the Card Table suggestion. I'm not sure how new you are to cards but there are two 1-on-1's by Aaron Fisher. Card Fundamentals:Volume one and two. They might be of interest if you're just getting into magic...

Do you believe in real magic?

I believe real magic has existed. Maybe not in the same sense of 'I'm here *poof*' 'Where'd he go?' but our art had to come from something. I really do believe magic, today, is an imitation of something that was once real.

    May 08 :: Practice

1)Go over the effect step by step. Practicing any new moves i need or working on ones that are giving me trouble. 2)Practice running through the routine, silently, in front of a mirror. When I feel as though I have it down I move to create some patter, sometimes from scratch and sometimes...

    An Alternative Approach to Hecklers

That was a very insightful post. I havent run into many hecklers recently, its true that there arnt as many as we like to think their are. I also agree that too many people work too hard to get their moves flawless and not enough time developing the people skills that make magic work. Good...

    Saw on YouTube

i agree with dejavu...even without patter, make it look like you're in pain. You have to remember that magic doesn't happen by buying an effect. Practice, dedication and performance make it real to an audience, which is what your ultimate goal is-make them question whether it's real or not.

Saturday Night Contest : David Blaine Edition

Stunt #1 (as announced by David Blaine himself) "Since my last stunt I've taken some time off to re-evaluate everything that I've accomplished. There is one thing I have yet to do, and my next stunt is a testament to my aspiration to push the limits of the human body. I David Blaine will...

    Quick Tricks

any card control into color change reveal works well usually. i don't own the trilogy, but from the preview video the tricks all seem to fit routine or solo trick slots well. or you could always piece together learned sleights into your own tricks. oh-and not exactly tricks, but...

    Clear... Playing Cards?

I've heard people using them for games that include choice beverages...mainly because more things get spilled as those nights go on... as for magic...they dont fan, flourish-it's been said about the one way backs...but maybe suck the color out of a card?...(if only the backs were normal...) i...
