    Chris and Katie's Summer Party!

Wow, that sounds awesome! Sadly, I live a little too far away to make the trip a feasible one, so I won't be going. :( But yeah, it sounds like great fun. Kudos to you two for throwing such a party; it's mighty kind of you. :)

    People who think they know...

Going along with what RDChopper (and myself) has (have) said (been saying), I've yet to meet a heckler who wants to make an ass of anyone if it means making an ass of themselves. Maybe it's just me. o_O

    People who think they know...

That's the other advice I was alluding to, and hoping to eventually read, in my original post. :) It's not always about what we do or say...it's sometimes about what we don't do or say that really makes an impact/makes a difference. :) Romeo: That actually sounds pretty good...I've yet to...

    People who think they know...

Yes, exactly. Personally, I paint it as an "us" thing. It's not about me doing an effect...it's about me AND the volunteer (heckler or otherwise) doing an effect TOGETHER. The outcome depends on US, not ME. It will change depending on the person, but for me that's how I go about things. :)

    People who think they know...

This is where audience management comes into play...or, in this particular instance, your ability to control the flow of your own performance. You should never allow your volunteer to dictate where things go, what happens, etc...I'm assuming that if you're going to be performing for real people...

    People who think they know...

This is exactly why I avoid that route, and instead make them a part of the act (as a volunteer...how voluntary it is changes depending on the person/situation, hehe)...that way it's no longer me versus them. Instead, it's us on a team, so to speak. ;)

    People who think they know...

I would pay to see that. :p Anyway, there are a number of things you can do when faced with a heckler...and taunting/challenging them is not at the top of my list. The thing I do most often is have them participate in the next effect. It seems counter intuitive, but it actually makes it a...

    D&D Site Down

Wow...another one of these threads? It seems there's one at least every few weeks, if not more frequently (seems like every day to me, although I know they're not that frequent, heh). o_O Tip for the future: When this happens again (and it will...and we'll get more threads about it here, as...

I second this. Mine has been working great! :)

Copyright laws and all that junk...

Legally, you don't have to ask permission OR give credit. The tricks themselves can't even be patented, only the gimmick (if it doesn't use a gimmick, then no luck for you). However, ethically, it's expected that you ask for permission (if possible). If the person is deceased, then just...

Is this an illegal bootleg of Sleeping Queen?

I realize that--I meant as a next step (hence the "now that the issue has pretty much been figured out" included in my post). Valhalla: That's good; I was just making sure you knew the correct avenue to go, since a lot of people don't, heh. :)

Is this an illegal bootleg of Sleeping Queen?

Just a note, please send a support ticket to the respective companies, as apposed to posts on the message board (now that the issue has pretty much been figured out). Not that there's anything wrong with posting about it on the message boards, but sending a support ticket gets the message...

    A Mentalist Question

Agreed. You could use the Universal Impression to accomplish this; it's a great device. :)

    David Blaine - Drowned Alive?

Although I agree with most of what you said, I'd just like to point out that Blaine has said he doesn't do these specials for the money. According to him, he makes a boatload of cash from his private gigs (I remember him mentioning a figure of up to $100,000 for a private party). However, if...

    MAGIC or Genii?

Try using the search button before making a new thread. :) It's really up to you which one you choose; they're both great magazines. If you get anything from the other threads on the subject, it should be that it's really subjective. Both magazines receive a fair amount of praise. So, you...

    Help with basic gaff cards...

Of the ones you listed, I use the double backer the most by far. I usually use them for card in wallet, and for a few others (like an ACR, if I plan to do that ahead of time). :) Also, I use the blank faced cards in a certain Loops effect, or any other effect where you need to make the deck...

    Magic Table

Sadly, the post won't be able to be edited by the original poster. We'll have to wait for a mod/admin to do something about it (I've reported a different post in the thread, in order to let a mod/admin know of the situation, so they can hopefully fix it). Also, in order to see the picture...

    Card box/case

There are two sources I can think of for deck protectors: 1) Comic book shops sell deck protectors for trading card games (like Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc). I have a few, and they'd definitely fit a deck of cards, and then some (I enjoy Magic in all it's forms ;)). 2) Sports card...

    Magician Wins Sweden's Got Talent!

While I wouldn't call him one of my favourites, he was definitely interesting/a lot of fun to watch. Thanks for sharing. :)
