PINNED :: An effect by V.

How would this compare to the Paul Harris approach to using a button in an effect? I'm referring to the one in his TA set (the name escapes me at the moment).

    On Demand purchase methods

Now, now children... Anyway, this probably would have better been asked on the D&D forums, seeing as it pertains to their site, not T11. For sake of completeness, I'd suggest using a major credit card, as it is by far the most convenient method. :)

    Invisible deck buy

If you're doing a show, switching decks shouldn't be a problem. If you're doing a strolling routine, that's when you'd want your decks to be consistent. In that case, I'd suggest buying roughing fluid and making your own invisible deck using the Split Spades. :)

    Cost for Show/Stroll

That would be the price range I'd quote a place like Montana's, Jack Astor's, or Kelsey's, just for reference. Not exactly super rich restaurants, heh. :)

    Cost for Show/Stroll

    Yeah, don't under-sell yourself, heh.

    Cost for Show/Stroll

I would say $50-75 per hour for strolling, and $150+ per half hour for a show. Of course, your prices may differ, but those are close to what I charge. I charge so low because I still consider myself a novice. As you get more experienced, you can expect $150+ per hour for strolling, and $500+...

    Daniel Garcia Invades Sorcerers Safari

New Jersey isn't all that far from where Sorcerer's Safari is...it's maybe a 10 hour drive, or so. Should be fairly cheap to bus in, if your parents would allow that. Or get dropped off, if your parents were up to that, heh. Maybe they can take a vacation here in Canada? ;)

    Reverse Engineering... Another Crazy Thought

    And many others, myself included.

    David Blaine - Drowned Alive?

I would just like to note that the announcer on the show also implied that his Frozen in Time stunt was also fake. He (well, the show) kind of lost his credibility right there with me.

    Reverse Engineering... Another Crazy Thought

You're telling me that the center deal is "basic"? And you wonder why Danny called you ignorant? Hypocrite.

    True Astonishments or Not?

First of all, this should be in product questions. Secondly, like the others have mentioned, I'd actually suggest some good ol' books. The AoA series is great, the Card College series is great, as well as the Tarbell Course (although, I'd only suggest that if you're seriously into doing your...

    Reverse Engineering... Another Crazy Thought

Penguin and Namie: I refer you to SamRochon's post: This, I believe, is the main issue. You're paying for the idea. This is why I would never release my book test...people just don't respect the creative process. And no, the professionals don't tend to buy each others' effects, and they...

    Reverse Engineering... Another Crazy Thought

My thoughts...my thoughts. My thoughts are that if that's the way magicians are going, then I would suggest that the people releasing their effects only offer us text-explanations of what their effects are. It's a step backwards, but it's a logical step for them to take if the community starts...

    Strongest Mentalism Effects?

Just to note, that was the company who produces/sells the effect, so they may be a little bit biased. ;) But, I do agree that it is a GREAT tool for mentalism. It's by far one of my favourite (mentalism-related) gimmicks. It's easy to use, and so deceptive, yet so powerful. Definitely a great...

    Review: Precision Magic Man

Although this forum tends to be filled with reviews for certain products, I decided I'd write up a review of my experience with a certain company, instead. I don't typically write reviews (I think my only other review on this forum is for Pressure), but this is one situation where I felt it was...

    Flash Paper

While I've never used flash paper myself, I can speak from the experience (read: mistake) of my brother (in letting a spectator hold the rose in Floating Rose when his thread and all three spares broke)...it leaves a blister, and hurts. I wouldn't exactly suggest holding it, but it's really up...

    Is D&D site down?

It can be done in your hand, but not the spectators. :) Also, the D&D site (at least the homepage) seems to go down a decent amount, as I've seen this topic numerous times in the past. It's usually back to working properly within a few hours, though. :)

    Job

I would suggest performing anything that you're comfortable performing. I would definitely advise against learning anything new for the sake of learning something more 'adult-like'. Adults love effects that range from simple sponge balls, to two card monty, to pretty much anything else...

    Daniel Garcia Invades Sorcerers Safari

Wow, this seems to be a good year to go to Sorcerers Safari. Sadly, I've been too old to go for a few years now (and didn't know about it before). Oh well, for those who end up going, I'm sure it'll be a great experience! :)

Off Topic: June 4th Events of China

A simple search of "Tiananmen Square" on Youtube turned up this. Truly an amazing man. :) Also, if you do the search, the first video is a Fox News report where they call the guy a "lone gunman." Gotta love Fox News. Edit: Also found this video. Extremely, extremely powerful video...
