How would this compare to the Paul Harris approach to using a button in an effect? I'm referring to the one in his TA set (the name escapes me at the moment).

If you're doing a show, switching decks shouldn't be a problem. If you're doing a strolling routine, that's when you'd want your decks to be consistent. In that case, I'd suggest buying roughing fluid and making your own invisible deck using the Split Spades. :)

That would be the price range I'd quote a place like Montana's, Jack Astor's, or Kelsey's, just for reference. Not exactly super rich restaurants, heh. :)

I would say $50-75 per hour for strolling, and $150+ per half hour for a show. Of course, your prices may differ, but those are close to what I charge. I charge so low because I still consider myself a novice. As you get more experienced, you can expect $150+ per hour for strolling, and $500+...

New Jersey isn't all that far from where Sorcerer's Safari is...it's maybe a 10 hour drive, or so. Should be fairly cheap to bus in, if your parents would allow that. Or get dropped off, if your parents were up to that, heh. Maybe they can take a vacation here in Canada? ;)

I would suggest performing anything that you're comfortable performing. I would definitely advise against learning anything new for the sake of learning something more 'adult-like'. Adults love effects that range from simple sponge balls, to two card monty, to pretty much anything else...
