    "Being yourself" is overrated...

In general, I don't disagree with you. But take it from a working actor, almost every actor who portrays other people is extrapolating some aspect of themselves (this holds true for almost all actors portraying some semblance of reality). The reason you research and live the life of a character...

    Cardistry and Magic Problem

Well there's no reason you can't work on both, and spend a little more time with what you like better. Me, it's the other way around. I flourish a little, but most of the time I practice magic instead. It's normal to have a preference and to like both.

    Which book do you recommend?

No-one will argue that it's certainly not a picture book. Still, considering how good it is, I certainly think it's worth it.

    Color Changes Compilation

Always a good thing to remember. Just make sure it doesn't end up being an excuse to avoid working on things. Small technical faults though they may be, they are faults nonetheless. (not accusing, just saying) I showed the video to a layman friend, who then proceeded to show me (close enough)...

    The Advocate - Daniel Madison

OneCardWonder is right, it's not something you simply video. It's a gimmick and a concept to work with, rather than an effect you get spoon fed, so you need a good imagination, although some great effects are provided. Those who own this will tell agree though, that it's not the sort of thing...

    Giorgio Armani Playing Cards

I had a look at the LV ones in person not too long ago. Bridge sized, plasticky feel, not particularly nice, but the design was nice - and the packaging, lol.

    Unwritten Rules of the Stage

Hmm. It's kinda similar to, if you're going to put out an effect, you have to know professional etiquette such as crediting and research too, no? As much as the material also should be tested and good.

The Penetration of Four Cards Through a Jacket

Took me a while to check contents, but yes, I believe Cards Through Jackets is the one, though I haven't seen it. It's labelled under the thread title in the book.

    Unwritten Rules of the Stage

    12) Never say the name of the Scottish play in a theatre. :P Nice post, though.

The Penetration of Four Cards Through a Jacket

No worries dude. Hmm. Firstly - yes, I would recommend it. Secondly - I'll show you it next time you're around if you like, and some material from it, if I get it down well enough. Thirdly - a lot of the material IS very advanced though, it's hard and will take a lot of practice, so be warned...

How many time does it took you to get fast at flourish?

Any flourish in particular? In general, lots of the more complicated flourishes take months to perfect.

The Penetration of Four Cards Through a Jacket

Hey guys, I was just wondering, has anyone actually been able to get this effect to a performable state? I've just started tackling it today, and I must say I love the method. Damn, it's hard though. Doing 4 or 5 things at once is ridiculous. Really, I was just curious to see if anyone else was...

Where can I learn the Sybil?

I don't know if that's what Brian Tudor is claiming these days, but Sybil was NOT created by him, at all.

Where can I learn the Sybil?

Just as a side note (not gonna enter this debate), but there is indeed a history to Sybil, which is in a few posts in the past on T11. From memory, the name "The Illogical Shuffle" or something similar - comes to mind - so have a search if you're interested.

    "Being yourself" is overrated...

Some interesting thoughts. You may not know this, but generally, a lot of work goes behind the scenes into the interesting and different characters you see in a movie. The majority of which, are based on the actor's real personality. If they had nothing to base it by, they wouldn't be...

Search and Destroy Ft. Nowhere Pass

I can't answer your first question, but I do know that Search and Destroy is based on Larry Jennings' "The searchers" from Richard's Almanac, Jan/Feb 1984.

    Poll: Quality Forum Response

*Sigh* Have you been reading anything I've posted, or is that too much to ask? I gave a reason why it was misleading to do so, and stick by it, and frankly, I'm insulted by your attitude, considering you're the one asking for opinions. Then again - meh. I care because...? My opinion was that...
