    Good Card Tricks

I wouldn't really define Bucks' effects on The Trilogy as the "beginner" material. The biddle trick, any card to mouth and Do as I do are the first effetcs that I thought of, but I also recommend that you buy The Royal Road to Card Magic by Jean Hugard and Frederick Braue, it's a great learning...

Just returned from a Christmas Party Gig

I'm very glad for you, you obviously impressed and it also sounds like you had a great time, which is also a part of the definition of a successful gig, if such a definition exists. Anyway, well done!

    Quick effect (and sleight question)

The move looks similar to the Clipshift and Daniel Madison also has a control that looks very similar to both this and the Clipshift. The effect itself is not bad, although I'm not too impressed. It just doesn't really look like you pulled the card out of the middle of the deck, that's it. Cheers!

    Need help please.

Only you know the pace at which you absorb and master new material. Watch the creators' performances and then perform their creations yourself and estimate how close you performormance technically is to theirs, and move on only if you're satisfied with the result. I wouldn't advise you to...

    Cardists help me!

I honestly do not believe that you mastered all of this manipulations in only 2 years. To know the mechanics is one thing, but to be able to perform it perfectly 10 times out of 10 is completely other. Pandora alone requires many months of intensive practice to result in anything that even...

    Access - Cody Nottingham

Access is the newest twist on the card to box plot, coming straight from the mind of Cody Nottingham, which most of you know as the author of The Wire's popular release IN2, and some of you as the name signing the DVD Changes, which introduced a couple of the most visual (and the most hardcore)...

    I don't want but I want...

The deck is out of stock, it says so on the Ellusionist's site. The good news is that if you still want to throw away huge amounts of money to get a deck of cards, Gold Arcane deck in gold-bolted Lucite case is still available if only you want to spend 475$. Ah, who am I kidding? I completely...

My New Video Production - Flourish

The video is nice and all that but, this has nothing to do with the "art of flourish", as you stated. Maybe I misunderstood?

    Super Pen

Looks like it has terrible angles and if the method is gimmickless, i.e. if you're only using 2 ordinary pens, I'm 99% sure it's been done before. Still, it is somewhat visual and well done for coming up with it on your own.

I understand that you did, you said that in the first post, what I meant was write them down here if you want the specifics.

"Throwing Star" A fun little Sandwich effect

The effect is good and I liked the patter, although the filming angles are awful and most of the time your hands are out of the camera view. Still, I guess that's not as important as the fact that you are a good performer and this is a nice effect. Cheers!

    Card manip routine

Like I already said in another thread, use the fact that the audience probably doesn't know anything about cardistry to your advantage (they can easily be impressed with a simple card shot or 2 charliers done in both hands circulating around each other). Also, remember that just like in magic...

Is it good to be a bit too "flashy"

I generally agree with this, but then again, a lot of guys preffer the "skillful" presentation over the "magical" one and I think that's fine and really depends on the situation and the people you perform for. Imagine the scenario where the magician puts the card into the middle of the deck...

    Getting back into magic

Shouldn't you just start practicing and then ask for specifical tips considering various problems you might run into? The only tip I can give you right now is start practicing. Welcome back!

    Best Haunted Deck

What do you mean by the "best"? The easiest, the most practical, the most visual? I personally preffer practicality and am ready to make compromises on the account of the visual aspect and the easiness, so I would go with Patrick Kun's Vector or G's Impromptu Haunted Card (it can be found on...

    Magic ideas

I never said I don't understand the idea of this thread, just that I don't like it. Banachek is one of the few exceptions that confirm the rule that puts experience as the most important factor besides creativity when it comes to creating new effects. I didn't say you're all a bunch of kids...

    help with preforming cardistry

Stick with the familiar material and remember that even a simple Charlier cut can look very impressive to an audience when done in both hands circulating around each other. People are generally not familiar with cardistry and that's your biggest advantage, so the sole fact that you don't need to...

    Magic ideas

I completely agree and I believe you guys should focus more on practicing classical sleights and effects and actually performing them. As I already said, inspiration will come and you can't be a successful creator if you can't perform. E.g. trying to think of a method to control a card to the...
