Book Review: The Paper Engine - Aaron Fisher

Sorry for digging up an old thread but it seemed more sensible than making a new one. Anyway... Do any of the tricks require gimmicks or dupes? And if not, roughly how much needs a setup/how much is completely impromptu? Thanks...

    Funny Stuff

Please do me a really big favour. Go through your post and take out every single 'soo yeah'. Then go through again and add capital letters. Then go through again and add full stops. Think about this next time you post please, I mean, this is all the rest of the world has to go on about you as a...

    Tic Tac Magic

Ah, my mistake. Don't listen to me, I've just been reading the bible and therefore don't know what I'm talking about.

    Tic Tac Magic

Make them disappear one at a time, right in front of your spectator? Clean finish... Gah I dunno, use your imagination. As far as I know there aren't any on the market so I guess it's up to you. Just jazz and see what happens.

    Mythical Creatures

You smack them in the face and then yell at them for 'Daring to turn the card over at the wrong moment.' Then you drink their beer, steal their girlfriend and walk off merrily with their car keys. On a more serious note, just snap their attention back to you, like previously mentioned. Tell...

    My iPod and 1-on-1's

Brilliant. I take my metaphorical hat off to you.

Your opinion on best type of magic

I'm only just getting into this, but magic with everyday objects is hands down the best. Bit of cards for an opening, then vanish the deck and pull out a banana. This is when you really wow people. Especially when you mix it with a bit of mentalism (a classic example is the book test, everyday...

Gah that made me jump. I sat back in my chair and thought 'where the hell did that come from.' Wow...that's just...yeah, I somewhat like it.

    The Queens

Really, really liked it. Didn't see when or where you did the first vanish at all and I was looking out for it. All the vanishes were pretty nice and the ego...well it didn't seem fishy to me spinning the deck round and I don't know the ego so I think I have an unbiased view.

RIOT by Dan Hauss - Details & The Dizzle - Friday, October 31st

I seem to remember reading in a different thread that it's going to be around 20 minutes. It'll take a bit of time to download but not too long hopefully. Anyway, you can instant download control and that's nearly 2 hours. EDIT: Yup, here it is http://forums.theory11.com/showthread.php?t=12214

    Lying or truth trick?

You could probably come up with a few methods to do this yourself if you thought about it. Thing is, this is all presentation. Any way of knowing which of X objects or cards or whatever is essentially this trick. Have a think about it, I'm sure you can come up with something.

    True Readers...

Hehehe that amused me. I've never read Strong Magic, never pretended to, never even thought about pretending to... Actually, on reading that back, it sounds like I'm waiting for people to say 'Oh wow, Randomwrath is so cool, he hasn't pretended to read a book!' People, if you feel like...

RIOT by Dan Hauss - Details & The Dizzle - Friday, October 31st

Never EVER resort to homophobia as a way of insulting people. It shows a lot about your maturity. Seriously, you won't make any friends on these forums saying things like that and it won't help you get your point of view across. EDIT: Forgot to mention, sounds crazy awesome, JBayme, can't wait...

    1-on-1!

One reason that immediately springs to mind is that if somebody is searching for a 1on1 related thread, for example 'Which 1on1 should I buy?' type threads, they are going to get pages of threads like this. Therefore, they can't find the thread that they're after and will be forced to make a new...

So one gimmick will last for X amount of performances? Thanks, that's all I needed to know. Definitely on my shopping list now.:D

Does this sound like a good short stage routine?

I can't see a problem with this, to be honest. It all works nicely together and you aren't switching props for no reason. I like it.

    Four Ace Trick (Impossible?)

You might be accidentally be doing something clever that psychologically plants certain suggestions in the audiences mind...highly doubtful, though. I also can think of a few methods to achieve this, but yeah, sounds a lot like luck. You can do some pretty cool tricks with luck and make it look...

    Another Great Library Time...

Great story, love things like this. I'm slowly getting a reputation at my school as well, which is fun. Like when people you don't know look at you and say 'Oh cool it's him. He's magic, you know." Makes me feel warm and fluffy on the inside...

    1-on-1!

Yes but other threads tend not to have been posted at least once a week. Continually asking for the same thing over and over again isn't going to get it, it's just going to get the Theory11 team annoyed. Don't forget, there's nothing forcing Theory11 to release a 1on1 every week and if you ask...
